I know ridiculously obscure details about film. Some people seem to think it’s a legitimate talent. One day, maybe it will earn me a living.
Love SAVED! I was able to program it as the bottom of a double feature with Marty Feldman's IN GOD WE TRU$T back in April 2014, even got guest speakers for each. Funny thing was the projectionist didn't show, so I had to run the prints too! Memorable night.

One of the most electrifying moments in modern cinema is the end of THE HARDER THEY COME, when, becoming an outlaw after watching DJANGO, Jimmy Cliff's Ivan himself is now watched by a cinema full of Jamaicans, telling Hollywood they'll create their own heroes now.

Cliff is gone; dance goes on...

When I picture Udo Kier, I think of an SNL "Sprockets" sketch where Woody Harrelson played an East German surrealist who became a kitsch-loving goof when the Wall fell.
Kier was elegantly intense in Euro art films, but when he moved to LA, you can feel his palpable glee acting in looser fare.

Years later I'm still quietly mourning how ANCHORMAN 2 blew two opportunities: 1) use a throwback Paramount "Blue Mountain" logo at the front and 2) have the blue circle morph into a Pac-Man to launch the mood for the story's 80s setting.

In L.A., it used to be a tradition that much like Xmas Eve DIE HARD screenings, there would be shows of THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE within a few days of New Year's, fore or aft. But the last couple years have been dry, and none have been announced as yet.
Did Disney pull it? Are there no prints or a DCP?

"Hello? Now, listen, kid, don't put the telephone down. You understand me? You hold the telephone in your hand. You know what I'm saying to you? In your fat little claw you hold the phone. I'm warning you now, if you put the telephone down lightning will strike you and you'll die. I'm God."

A most unexpected surprise and privilege during tonight's WEEDS screening and Q&A was that Nick Nolte and Joe Mantegna attended and joined writer/director John D. Hancock to answer my queries and share memories. They were clearly moved to see their long-lost film again.
Y'all shoulda been there.

On the 5th of this month, my account on That Other Site was suspended, on charges of "Inauthentic Behavior".
I filed multiple polite appeals.
This morning, I got a message claiming that I now had "multiple or repeat violations" and that I will not be restored.

Whatever. Fickle bots.

I say to them:
