This is a thread collecting various experts' advice about what congressional and state-level Democrats should be doing RIGHT NOW.

They are not helpless.
My mentions are filled with people insisting Senate Democrats are powerless.

They’re not. They can throw up roadblocks by denying unanimous consent, forcing quorum calls, using holds and filibusters, etc

It’s so easy to figure out even a dimwit like Tuberville managed to pull it off.

If you haven't read through @mugrimm.bsky.social's thread of the wild AF stuff from the Bush years, read it. Trump didnt come out of nowhere.
A lobbyist named Jack Abramoff is caught in one of the largest bribery scandals ever.

Virtually nothing happens to any of the people named. His idea of dressing himself so no one catches onto him was to dress like this:

WE WON. I am *begging* you to take note of who did this. *Not* UCLA admin—they’re still scuttling around behind closed doors, attempting to appease—but FACULTY AND STAFF, led by AAUP.
BREAKING: In AAUP et al v. Trump (wall-to-wall union lawsuit challenging the administration’s unlawful use of TItle VI to reshape the University of California system), the faculty and staff of the UC system WON!!!

We were granted our preliminary injunction! @aaup.org

I don't know how many professional political people are trying to move conversations in certain directions so they can make bank but it is not a small amount. Those people are scum.

NEW: The backlash to Trump has been coming in big waves. Dems' sweep in last week’s elections. The 7 million people who turned out for “No Kings” protests.

But it's been fueling something else all year: a surge in young progressives signing up to run for office.

No justice, no peace is a fact, not a threat.
Something the US needs to accept too is that without a large-scale correction imposing consequences on a large number of people, the crisis of governance here will continue indefinitely

Shame needs to make a roaring comeback. Not just shame, but "you have dishonored me/my family/my little dog" posturing followed by aggressive immediate teeth-inna-gutter consequences.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

This is also an indication of how badly we need trauma informed care. It's like we've created widespread arrested development where people don't have to process their emotions, they can just distract themselves or get a chat bot to confirm their worst ideas.

No processing, just delusions.
