Democratic Minnesota senator: ICE has "a role in our country"
Senator Tina Smith said on Sunday that she wants "to see work done that would bring some serious reforms to ICE."

Is she of all people really talking about conciliatory words?
Predicting that this week we’ll hear more conciliatory words from the Administration regarding Minnesota (since they’re starting to realize that ICE has become politically toxic) but everyone outside of Minnesota needs to know that nothing on the ground has changed.

Once again, being an undocumented entry is a civil misdemeanor. Being an undocumented overstay is a civil infraction, not even a misdemeanor.

It’s almost like they’re not actually on our sides? 🤔
It’s now been a few days since Schumer called up Trump, gave him advice on immigration, and made a deal with him.

Not a single senate democrat has called for his resignation over this.

I find it sick too, and I don‘t think we should give any cover to this stalling game. We’re at the point where reps who aren’t fighting tooth and nail for impeachment deserve to hear at their next town hall that *they‘re* pedophile protectors for shielding Trump.

“Bad scandal, sure, but Weinstein’s powerful, gotta let him stay at Miramax for now“—imagine the backlash! But folks saying impeachment can wait (or not even using the i-word) remain at the forefront of the respectable left. Indivisible, Chris Hayes, most of the popular Dems, etc. etc. Unsustainable

No one needs yet another investigation into Epstein.

Let’s start with charging all the powerful people already very clearly implicated.
February 2, 2026 at 12:45 AM
Why don’t you just spend your time removing Trump and everyone that helped him instead of moving the ball with yet another investigation?
Congress passed a bill to require the release of all Epstein files in November.

The admin is breaking the law to cover up allegations against Trump and the powerful. We need an independent investigation from DOJ OIG.

It’s good for elected officials to rescue individual people who have made headlines.

But people need to consider why they aren’t spending time actually fixing the underlying problems given that’s their primary job.
February 2, 2026 at 12:32 AM
The real question is why all the other Democrats are fine with him saying things like this.
Doesn't seem like this should be his job

How Minnesota elected officials are leaving their constituents out to fend for themselves is hopefully going to be studied for years to come.

Why is he on Fox News Sunday and why isn’t he calling for the abolition of ICE?
Murphy on Fox News Sunday: "I mean -- c'mon. We're still pretending that ICE is going after dangerous people? They aren't. What is happening in Minnesota right now is a dystopia. ICE is teargassing elementary schools, it is disappearing legal residents into cars, it is murdering American citizens."

It’s the cynicism of saying “health care is a human right” & opposing universal health care because it’s “too expensive” (and then raising the defense budget by more than UHC would cost). Or the cynicism of kneeling in kente cloth & thanking George Floyd for his sacrifice then giving more $ to cops.

A fun and interesting fact about Mike over here is that one of his advisors was the last person to see Jeffrey Epstein alive.
WELKER: MTG says you're '100% under the direct orders of the WH'

JOHNSON: The president and I work closely together because we have unified govt. That's what the American people voted for

W: Is there any area where you disagree?

J: Yes. But we do that privately. I'm going to support my president.

This was only about two time-lapsed minutes of the Alex Pretti memorial ride in Minneapolis today. I'd guess there were at least 5x more people there than this, and probably significantly more than that. Absolutely mind blowing love and support showing up on bikes today.

This is what most of politics is nowadays.
"essentially right in its broad outline but 100% wrong in its particulars" a truly fascinating case of deflection, projection & denial

Good people pursue justice. Garland was not remotely good.
February 1, 2026 at 2:08 PM
I do not appreciate the infantilizing of the top law enforcement officer of the United States.

Why do people think he was a good man? He wasn't a good man.
Merrick Garland was so good a man that he was stupid.
I mean this in the spirit of curiosity: why the fuck did the Biden DOJ not release these Epstein files?

Were they just completely asleep at the wheel? Did Trump have the files stashed away in a Maralago bathroom?

Seriously what the fuck.
February 1, 2026 at 2:05 PM
Not that many members of congress are talking much about this latest Epstein document dump, but for the ones that are, pay close attention to what they are focusing on.

If they aren't naming names or are omitting politically inconvenient names, that is a tell.
February 1, 2026 at 1:53 PM
It was absolutely about politics.

If it wasn't, why don't you demand Elon testifies before your committee? You did that with Prince Andrew when he was named in emails on the same exact day Elon was.
This was never about politics for me or Rep. Thomas Massie.

We can't have two systems of justice in America.

That dozens of powerful, famous, and wealthy men are being outed in these files is a moment of national reckoning.

The entire class must go.
