the left-NIMBY crashout as the most successful elected socialists and progressives embrace pro-housing policies is truly a sight to behold
Oh shit he’s crashing out

For such an important message, it's a shame he chose a sans serif font.

Huge day for those of us who spent much of 2016-2019 arguing "trump is a racist" to the enlightened centrists in our friends groups.

For #BlackHistoryMonth, here's Du Bois laying it down:

"America thus stepped forward in the first blossoming of the modern age...a vision of democratic self-government... It was the last Great Battle of the West, for human freedom...

And then some unjust God ... dropped a black man in the midst."

Proud Floyd
Was this very mid-2000s emo person press-ganged into ICE servitude?

That's it, we're abolishing the Qualifications Clause
Child at the podium: “A woo woo woo.”

Mamdani: That’s how I felt when we came up with this plan. Together, we will expand the idea of what is possible in our city—and what sounds and noises we can make at a press conference.

The greatest peaks in American history have been moments of proud openness and interest in the common good.
Conservatives mock liberals for having a wide moral circle. They say we have 'suicidal empathy' and allow ourselves to be bled dry by parasitic foreigners.

But in history it's hard to think of cultures dying from too much openness.

And many that have self-extinguished via failed selfish conquest.

Southern planters prevented the white working class from seeing its solidarity with the slave through the feelings of superiority offered by white supremacy and the chance to inflict violence in the slave patrol.

Today it is corrupt billionaires fooling MAGA via white supremacy & ICE violence.

Latest NIMBY argument just dropped!

We can't build affordable housing because the local pears are too expensive for the poors!

I was late, so I turned on tonight's Bainbridge Island Council meeting in time to hear deputy mayor Kirsten Hytopoulos giving a speech about how "density is a gift to development" and that the city is already "drowning in people of a certain income level" and doesn't need more market rate housing.

Actually it's a good slogan because all land is stolen.
"no human is illegal on stolen land" is a stupid slogan because of the stolen land part. indigenous peoples, whatever that means, also don't have a right to deny the legal protections of citizenship to foreigners

The only white genocide happening in America is that "they" (ICE) are killing "Americans" (suburban moms and VA nurses).

Darkly amusing that the Epstein docs were released as a collection of PDF files.

Know how I know that NIMBYism is reactionary?:

Donald Trump, standing amid ash and rubble: “I’m not going to let [low income housing] destroy the value of their houses.”

I'm pleased to report that Kala the suburban miner is back at it and currently devising her own cement mix.

Why the fuck is this an article in WaPo?

Do they want to do a "Stephen Hoskins, dime-a-dozen economist, says 'actually supply and demand are real, and why did you ask a Planner that question before asking me?'"

They haven't even ever done a profile of YIMBYs in the first place.
Nearly 7 in 10 Americans say the amount of available housing contributes “a great deal” to the cost of housing, a survey found.

But supply skeptics like Michael Storper, an urban planning professor, argue that enough homes are already being built.
Are YIMBYs winning the housing wars? Not so fast, these people say.
Though the “build more” movement is chalking up wins, supply skeptics contend housing affordability calls for government policies, not just market forces.

I mean this in the spirit of curiosity: why the fuck did the Biden DOJ not release these Epstein files?

Were they just completely asleep at the wheel? Did Trump have the files stashed away in a Maralago bathroom?

Seriously what the fuck.

At this rate we're getting Blarkansas
Wow, buckle up.

The early vote just came in Tarrant County, and Democrat Taylor Rehmet is up 56% to 44% in the special election for a Texas state Senate seat.

This is a seat that went for Trump by 17%. This would be a huge upset.

This is already 45K votes.
