I'm here to be a reply gal and continue my 20+ year habit of being social & shitpost-y on the internet. Love #fantasy, #scifi, and historical fiction. My favorite media of the 2020s is #OldGodsofAppalachia, #TheLockedTomb, and #AgathaAllAlong. I lift heavy

I constantly see people being like “nah, nobody would bother to target Bluesky, it’s too niche/small, besides, what would even be the point, nobody influential is on here” and there is only so much outright denial of reality that I can handle in a day, these people are *lying* to you.

Simple as.
Anyway I'm sure it's fine.

This is a lay-up for the WH press

"Karoline, the president said he was 'totally exonerated' of any role in the Epstein scandal. Who exonerated him?"

[word salad]

"OK, but the president said he had been exonerated, when his name appeared 38,000 times in the files. How was he exonerated?"

can't believe libs are getting "stop spending my hard earned tax dollars on this stupid bullshit" in the national divorce
Trump: "I want to let you know that United States is going to make a contribution of $10 billion to the Board of Peace." (Congress has not appropriated this money!)

Right, like, here's the deal:

None of us want to vote for a ham sandwich. And those of us who are electorally engaged ALL THE TIME are doing our best to make sure our choice is not between a ham sandwich and a shit sandwich

But if that's what it comes to, I will of course vote for the ham sandwich

Such a great example of one of the worst aspects of YouTube. The algorithm incentivizes the worst, shouty, hyperbolic thumbnails with stupid faces. Everything is ‘THE WORST’ or ‘THIS IS THE END’ or ‘THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING.’
Fun to watch Russell Brand lose his mind exclusively through the aesthetics of his Youtube thumbnails

The next president should just immediately seize Trump's assets to the dollar value of all of these corrupt emoluments on the grounds that because emoluments are unconstitutional, the money was never Trump's in the first place.

Let him try to get them back in the civil asset forfeiture process.
Wow the exact same amount he was suing the IRS for. He just took it. Not only impeachable but [Redacted] as well.

the current U.S. president has a head full of mashed potatoes, operates at a third-grade reading level, and genuinely has no idea how anything works, but you'll notice that's not a consistent narrative in NYT reporting

AOC says "um" and it's an entire fucking newscycle

the intent ain't subtle

Looking through comments on the latest video, and something stands out to me which we need to talk about:

Too many people hear "I think you should vote for Democrats in November" and think I went on to say "that's all you'll have to do and everything will be fixed"

Y'all gotta cut that shit out.

We should view "even the British monarchy are better at holding their elites to account for their crimes than the US is right now" not as proof that we're doomed -

but as an inspiring challenge to do an even BETTER job of purging our loathsome murdering-rapist tech CEO and MAGA class.

I think it's important for the "all government people are corrupt crowd" to really hear this. No. No, they're not.

This is why I'm excited to see some of the laid-off federal employees start to run for office. Americans need to hear from those who've actually done the work of governing.
we couldn't use government funds to buy coffee (like, folgers ground coffee) when i worked on a CDC outbreak emergency response
The executive jet that DHS says it needs has a “bedroom with a queen bed, showers, a kitchen, four large flat-screen TVs and even a bar ..”

I do enjoy watching Epstein class criminals lose reputation and power, despite knowing we have to wait and wait for the American ones to face any sort of pain and many will escape. Andrew getting got is still great.

what I want people to feel, when they look at South Korea and the UK and Brazil holding elites accountable, is that it's possible here too. Elect true leaders this year and in 28, empowered - but also driven by us, the people - to hold the criminals accountable for their crimes. It's possible.

One of the things that personally drives me crazy in the U.S. is how youth sports/athletic activities went from a part of the public good (municipal leagues and fields! rec centers! public parks!) to a privatized, expensive, highly competitive, highly structured pursuit for wealthy kids’ résumés
NBC ran a piece where Mary Carrillo went to Norway to find out why they're so good at the Winter Olympics and i was yelling BECAUSE IT'S COLD THERE

then she went to a little tiny ski jump for kids and was like "it's free, equipment is provided, & they don't emphasize results"

and i was like.

it's so funny to try to legitimize a moronic argument by claiming that it is supported by a growing movement of diverse thinkers and then you list the people who belong to that movement and every single one is stupid and/or racist

every high profile anti trans critic has an origin story that goes "years ago someone asked me to respect trans people and instead I chose to go insane"
Benjamin Ryan openly admits that his reporting on trans issues is animated by personal bias against someone who was mean to him online. Ben is not capable of reporting on this issue objectively, and yet the New York Times and other outlets repeatedly let him do just that.

a big problem we have is a collapse of faith in modernity basically across the political spectrum
there is a subtle yet repugnant hint of ecofascism that unites takes from supposed leftists and liberals like “getting rid of people’s dependency on USAID is worth the human cost” and “air conditioning is a needless luxury, and some people will just have to die of heat to stop climate change.”
a lot of people just don't think it's unjust for people to die in other places to die of preventable illness etc. I swear there's a weird appeal to nature thing going on with it

I’ve always been curious where the money is coming from behind the anti-vax push. Meat lobbies have pushed seed oil conspiracies to promote the use of transfats. I wonder who’s lobbying against vaccines and why.
