This is what “welcome the stranger” looks like.
More of this, please. The folks in this grassroots group are heroes.

Haven Watch lives by the promise, “No One Walks Alone.” Day or night, they show up. When people are released from ICE detention, volunteers meet them in the cold, disoriented, and exhausted.

Beautiful and devastating all at once.

This is indeed a very thorough piece on the engineering and environmental ramifications of orbital data centers.

Too many “journalists” take the word of CEOs like Musk uncritically, Igor certainly doesn’t.

Reminder for people who might forget: Ryan is one of the journalists who used a white supremacist as a source for that Mamdani college application story, without revealing that the source was a white supremacist, which is fucking relevant to the privacy breach in the story!!
Benjamin Ryan openly admits that his reporting on trans issues is animated by personal bias against someone who was mean to him online. Ben is not capable of reporting on this issue objectively, and yet the New York Times and other outlets repeatedly let him do just that.

And this is why I honestly think young people should be encouraged to play the most toxic online multiplayer games in existence (CoD, DOTA, etc). We have a literal epidemic of working professionals who melt into a puddle of warm liquid the second someone calls them a bitch on the internet.

The President is taking a *pre-noon* nap. In public. At his big event. On World Peace. This will go mostly unremarked upon outside here. Meanwhile, the commentary class thinks it deeply important to inform you that AOC said "uhm" a few times in response to a question on the same topic a few days ago
more than two hours into this "Board of Peace" meeting, we are now enduring random world leader open mic time and Trump's eyes are closed

Sometimes in the course of being Online, people with marginalized identities are gonna behave uncharitably toward you, possibly even in a situation where you deserved the benefit of the doubt.

You need to be able to deal with this without letting it warp your world view toward that group of people.

LMAO what a little shitbag liar, I explicitly disproved Benjamin Ryan’s claims and he *blocked me*.
Benjamin Ryan has now blocked me after I specifically engaged the "evidence" he provided to falsely claim that a thousand youth trans surgeries are performed every year.

What a sad little man.

I wish Dems would talk about the reality of trans sports bans instead of letting Republicans frame the issue as if it’s big, burly men brutalizing young girls. bsky.app/profile/clay...
This story always sticks with me. The only trans “athlete” in Kentucky when the state banned trans kids from sports was a 13 year old who just wanted to play field hockey with her friends. archive.ph/2022.08.25-1...

Another great example of a journalist getting rightfully criticized for saying something ignorant and perceiving it as persecution and radicalizing.

It's a complete reversal of who's the perpetrator and who's the victim of harm.

The thing with Prison Abolition is we already had a world without prisons, and, generally, one of two things happened when someone committed a crime: You were sent to the gallows, or banished. If you came back after being banished? You were sent to the gallows.

Anti-trans activists like Helen Lewis have to tell lies in order to make it seem like the left is responsible for making trans rights a political issue. The NC bathroom bill passed in March of 2016, not May. The Obama administration was responding to that.
