Here’s some things that can be done by a party out of power

- file impeachment articles every day in the House

- withhold unanimous consent in the senate and filibuster every nominee

- be everywhere with comms saying this is lawless and impeachable

If my insurer uses step therapy to hold my Rx hostage, I don't owe them honesty. They can make me fill a prescription, they can't make me swallow the pill and they can't tell if I vomited afterward. How step therapy works, why it's exploitative, and why I might lie to insurers who lie to me first...

Me, sitting in front of my computer, overwhelmed, under-rested, with a brain that's being slowly poisoned by a constant infusion of infuriating, terrifying news and clumsy fascist propaganda masquerading as news.

"Boy, I'm having a lot of trouble focusing today!"

some people say that you shouldn’t post on the CSAM-friendly site run by a billionaire white nationalist who allowed rightwing propagandists to troll through internal documents to publish misleading narratives about its staff and users but where else could you get reporting like this

Yep, the level of vicious bigotry is extreme and we can cannot give an inch. There is a movement on the far right, supported by billionaires and powerful people in the White House, who want to ethnically cleanse Somalis from the U.S., and we must describe it as such and treat it as such.
This is the "testing the waters" phase of the playbook. The GOP ecosystem targets groups like Somalis, Haitians, and trans people specifically because they've calculated that the average person's passive disapproval won't ever turn into active defense. They're exploiting public apathy.
i'm really having a hard time getting past the "surely we can all agree that Somalis are worse than trash" thing. this feels new and very bad

Good example of a thing where states need a firm reminder that they have and can enforce their own laws, even if the federal government won't. Every state has its equivalent laws about this stuff. Musk is not cloaked in some federal immunity just because he's off again / on again buddies with Trump.
What Grok/X has done is unprecedented. There are no other instances of a major company affirmatively facilitating the production of child pornography. Treating this as the inevitable result of generative AI and social media is a harrowing mistake.

🧵 It’s the first Shut The Fuck Up Friday (STFU-F) of the year and I don’t know who needs this reminder but you do not talk to police. You don’t even talk to them when you have a lawyer. Your lawyer will also tell you to STFU when they greet you. Do not be helpful. Do not offer truth that feels safe.

GOOD NEWS! Researchers have shown Alzheimer’s disease can be REVERSED- not just prevented. Using a potent neuroprotective compound called P7C3-A20, they found RESTORING balance to a central cellular energy molecule (NAD+) not only PREVENTED disease features but REVERSED them, EVEN at late stages.

Remember:

When Tylenol was poisoned *by an outsider* and killed people, the company recalled all their products & redesigned them.

When Intel’s Pentium had a bug so obscure it affected 1 in _9 billion_ long division calculations, they recalled their chips.

ChatGPT was made deadly *by its team*.
i don’t see how any of the benefits of chatgpt and other consumer-facing LLMs can possibly outweigh their incredible ability to induce suicides
Adam Raine’s life hurtled toward tragedy soon after he began talking with ChatGPT about homework. Analysis of his ChatGPT account shows how the chatbot became a confidant as he planned to end his life.

I am interested in working with an artist on a graphic novel on soil and/ or global environmental change. The lab would have money to fund this.

Do you know of any graphic artists that would be interested?

I am not a Christian of course but like all Americans I have spent my life marinating in Christian mythography, and so around this time of year I have a lot of thoughts about the Nativity and the part where the innkeeper says there's no room in the inn.

A common thread between Bari Weiss' career and the trans instructor purged by christofash is liberal gullibility. It was obvious what both were from the start, but instead of their bs just being crushed they were heard out, considered, pondered.

Grow up. This too precious bs gets people killed.

years ago, i saw a therapist who falsely advertised herself as trans friendly so she could diagnose trans people with disorders that would preclude access to transition care by casting our judgment into doubt.

that was a decade ago. they're even more organized now.

Americans having to bootleg broadcast news about our government’s offshored concentration camp is a level of fascism that immediately precedes democratic societies dropping leaflets on us from weather balloons.
And now someone has uploaded a version that wasn't filmed off a TV.

When I teaching the Holocaust I note the Holocaust museum’s definition of a concentration camp is a prison whose inmates are denied due process. These are by definition concentration camps.
These are concentration camps. No other way to describe them. Truly horrific, and none of it surprising in the least.
30 minutes. Some deportees described sexual assault. Detainee describes the guard sexually assaulting most detainees. Lights left on all day. Prisoners not given clean water.

Now the DHS tour. Nobody spoke to the detainees. Noem's video was in a different area of the prison.

We said for years: don't normalise having these "debates" about trans people and immigrants. Everyone thought they knew better. And now it's absolutely normal to say trans people are deviants and immigrants are subhuman, and we're having debates about whether women can vote.
None of this is “good faith political debate,” and it’s not a coincidence that all these outlets are suddenly interested in the same “discussion” at the same time.

Treating women’s humanity like a thought exercise makes it that much easier to legislate away

If you're not trans, I don't think I can fully explain how important this is.

It's so powerful that one of the most circulated science media publications in the world has come out and said "trans children are real and providing transition care improves their lives." That's groundbreaking.
The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.
