This week, a few writers have told me they don't know how to promote their books in the face of the ever-horrifying news cycle. So just for the record: PLEASE promote your books. We need your books. Your histories, your fictions, your contributions to human knowledge. Without them, what's the point?

Oh god. Given that Wrath came out that year, I probably didn't play much other than Wrath of the Lich King. So Then would be obvious.

Not sure I'd really want to give any prizes to Fallout 3 or Fable 2, but I at least played them and they're not WoW, so... I guess Fallout. 😮‍💨
Quote this with your favourite game NOW that was released in 2008, and what your favourite was THEN (if you had one)

It feels like all too many people are still unaware

🗣️ STARBUCKS BARISTAS HAVE BEEN ON STRIKE FOR OVER A MONTH

DO NOT BUY STARBUCKS

"Yeah, but my store's not striking"
"My stores non-union"

DO NOT BUY A N Y STARBUCKS PRODUCT

ALL STORES ARE A "STRIKING STORE"
Day THIRTY-NINE of our national ULP strike - and baristas are fired up, united, and taking action.

Our demands are clear: Starbucks needs to stop union busting and finalize a contract with the pay, hours, and protections we need to succeed. #NoContractNoCoffee

Saving time is just not that important in most cases. To rob yourself of almost everything involved in actually developing your craft to 'save time' just begs the question: for what? So you can be worse, faster? Use AI all you want if you're a historian, I'll just be way, way better at it than you.
I've had one go-round.

"Using AI means I don't read papers that aren't relevant."
"Then you aren't learning the field you're in."
"But I'm saving time."
"Saving time isn't helping you learn the discipline."
"But I'm saving time."
"That's not mastering a discipline though."
"But SAVING TIME."
What Im appreciating are the AI pushers revealing how they in fact do not understand how reading or research works, especially in fields that are not tech, or CS.
But they also appear to have a great deal of contempt for those fields, and many of us in those fields.
Thats aside from their charm.

It's funny how many are indoctrinated to think politicians don't owe us shit. Yes they do! Their job is to give us what we want & need. It's bad enough that the politicians don't think they owe us anything, but the fact that they've brainwashed so many to agree with them so people won't even ask?

One of these days I'll tell you about my experience with SFWA and my immigration process. (It won't be today because I have a bunch of things to do before Shabbes.)

But I feel like how SFWA treated Palestinian and Ukrainian writers more recently should be a reason enough to quit.

She was poised to win the leadership race by actually getting people to join the party. The old guard didn't like that, so they crushed the next generation to maintain their grip on power.
