1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.

Hundreds of kids are still detained.

We’ll let the children’s words speak for themselves. 🧵

Fascinating map. Unsurprisingly San Francisco, Sacramento, and nearby were one of the last places alcohol was still allowed just before nationwide prohibition in the 1920s, however, the other ones are also worth noting: New Orleans, Minneapolis, St Louis, Milwaukee, and some parts of NJ.

Queer bookstores died in 2010. We had a funeral and everything!

Except... a ton of people decided to roll up their sleeves and start *new* queer bookshops, all over the place. In cities. In tiny towns.

My latest newsletter is about the rebirth of the LGBTQ bookshop:

Got updates on Berkeley's Rental Housing Safety Program at Housing Advisory Commission tonight.

RHSP inspects buildings to make sure they're safe and up to code, both randomly & on request.

Staff reported that requests often come in waves, for example due to weather.

Looking for housing in Berkeley? Use the Rent Registry to find if a unit is Fully Covered (has rent control + other protections) or Partially Covered (other protections only).

Already renting and got a rent increase? You can use the Registry to check if it's within the maximum rent ceiling allowed.
Berkeley tenants, the Rent Registry is for you too! Knowing the coverage of your unit under the Rent Ordinance is the first step to understanding your rights. No need to make an account, simply type in the address. #TenantTuesdays #TuesdayTenantTrivia #BerkeleyCA
