You might be surprised to find out what kind of fun events we have at the library.
Check it out at your local public library. 📚😍
i think it sucks that online spaces really dont have safe spaces for kids. BUT we need more public spaces for children, especially ones that dont cost money

children deserve offline spaces and community

parks arent enough, give them a government mandated laser tag pit or smth

When I look back, I am so impressed again with the life-giving power of literature. If I were a young person today, trying to gain a sense of myself in the world, I would do that again by reading, just as I did when I was young.

Often it's the quiet kindness of a grown up we meet in childhood that inspires us to pursue goodness, to enjoy art, and to read well. ❤️
Be that kind of grown up that inspires a child.
I have just learned that my Grade 3 teacher, Mrs. Rokne has passed away. She was extremely beloved in my elementary and personally, she is basically entirely responsible for my love of fantasy books.

“What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.”

On this day in 1813 'Pride and Prejudice' was published.

Austen started writing the story in 1796. Initially it was called 'First Impressions'. It was rejected several times by publishers. Now it is one of the most famous novels in the English language!

What if our vision for our future in our home was this:
I'm done hidin', now I'm shinin' like I'm born to be
We dreamin' hard, we came so far, now I believe
We're goin' up, up, up, it's our moment
You know together we're glowin'
Gonna be, gonna be golden

Not every book is for every reader: some books satisfy while others make us feel unsatisfied.
It's okay to read to the end in the hope that it ends well (and if it doesn't, criticize it). You can also decide that you are not enjoying a book and stop early - and find a new read that engages you.

It might not look like a big deal, but Teen Hangout on Wednesdays is so important. Middle school and high school students make their way to branch libraries to hang out in teen rooms. They play games, snack, and develop social skills, as well as get comfortable talking to librarians. :)
