Moral injury is very real, especially if you have to make difficult choices about whether to work inside or outside a system. If you work for any of the agencies or contractors roped into this, you have choices to make. Find somebody you trust to confide in.

I don’t think people quite understand that the occupation by ICE in the Twin Cities has more or less erased non-white people from public life. They cannot safely exist in any space accessible to the public and moving between private places leaves folks vulnerable to kidnapping by armed masked goons.

The customer base at my retail job was fairly diverse before this, with lots of repeat Somali, Latin American, and Hmong customers.
I can count the number of nonwhite customers over my last two shifts on my hands.

Two horses were captured from Russian cavalry near Huliaipole. The 1st Separate Assault Regiment killed the riders attempting to infiltrate defense lines, then safely evacuated the animals. Both horses unharmed. 🐴

I’m so tired.
One of my favorite things on here is learning new colloquial German verbs. It’s such a creative language. Formal German is boring but the way people speak it, it’s full of things like “rumeiern” and it’s just delightful.

It's important to know what is actually going on and I'm so tired of people reacting to attempts to inform them by saying "they'll do whatever anyway." No they won't. Not necessarily. They double down a lot, but they also chicken out a lot.
The Insurrection Act is not "martial law." It doesn't displace civilian law, it doesn't suspend habeas corpus, it doesn't alter or suspend state and local government, and it doesn't make anything newly illegal. It allows using the military to enforce existing law, it doesn't change what the law is.

This, BTW, is what I mean by passport cards being simultaneously in theory unnecessary and in practice not always good enough. Because with these folks, nothing is good enough if it gets in the way of bullying. But passport cards are still a good idea.
Some of the stories in here are absolutely chilling. One US citizen of Somali descent was just riding an elevator with ICE agents and then they detained him for almost half an hour in the freezing cold despite him showing agents his passport card. They only let him go once protestors showed up.
