This is the most ruthless act of union busting in the history of the UK games industry. Yesterday, @rockstargames.com unfairly fired over 30 employees for union activity.

We won't back down, and we're not scared - we will fight for every member to be reinstated.

BREAKING: Yesterday Grand Theft Auto VI maker Rockstar Games fired dozens of people, all of whom were involved in union efforts. A British union calls it "blatant and ruthless" union-busting. Take-Two Interactive says it was due to misconduct.

Our response to @rockstargames.com's latest statement.
Rockstar’s latest statement is littered with falsehoods and disinformation - they have given multiple, conflicting reasons to explain why the workers were fired, as if attempting to reverse engineer a rationale for the dismissals. Once again, they have chosen to mischaracterise workers speaking about their working conditions in a private forum as “leaking information”. It is hard to understand this statement as anything but a desperate attempt to deflect from the global scrutiny they have come under over the last month. From the UK Prime Minister in the House of Commons, to the game developers across the world erupting in protest - all eyes are on Rockstar and their lawless attack on the people who make them their billions.

The managers and executives at Take-Two and Rockstar have finally answered the question of what they bring to the table in the production of GTA VI, given that the technical acumen, clever writing, beautiful composition, attention to detail, and vision are all brought by their workers. Pathetically, they’ve revealed that their contribution is sabotage, greed and short-sightedness by firing over 40 Rockstar employees who were organizing to demand better conditions as their co-workers shoulder the gargantuan task of delivering one of the biggest games in the history of the industry. Take Two and Rockstar’s leadership was willing to blatantly lie to the world about the conduct and character of these workers, and now they expect us all to believe that the 6-month delay of GTA VI has nothing to do with their gleeful desire to crush the dreams of workers even if it hurts their remaining staff, their faithful fans, and the quality of their work. Protests continued today outside Take Two's offices in London, but also in Paris, where Le Syndicat des Travailleureuses du Jeu Vidéo (@stjv.fr) came out to show their international solidarity with the fired Rockstar workers.

I went to meet the 'Rockstar 31', the developers who were suddenly fired from their work on GTA 6 for what the studio has described as gross misconduct.

That's not what the workers call it though. They have another couple of words they prefer to use: union busting.
