Been playing the Batman Telltale games. First one was fine but the second one is absolute cinema. Spending time with my good friend the Joker who just wants to find love in this crazy world. Hope things work out for him.

Arming and organising a bunch of people and giving them the right to deploy force in civil spaces is not an effective remedy to the vast majority of the things we consider to be "crime" and the application to this kind of thing is at best a backwards attempt to justify the police's continuation.

We have to talk more how transphobia has taken strong root among well-to-do journalists & politicians when in both the UK & US, the evidence is that voters do not share it.

The demographics of transphobia are people least likely to suffer prejudice in their lives. Richer, maler, whiter, straighter.
Spanberger’s GOP foe spent 57% of her ad budget on anti-trans attacks. Spanberger focused on the economy. You see what won. trib.al/fkMmsR4

The simple truth told time and time again in the polls: The public doesn’t care about trans issues. Voters care deeply about the economy, inflation, & prices.

now that this is public I can confirm that the majority of today’s layoffs were women of color. there are no longer any Black women working at Teen Vogue.

"And so one day, 1,000 people show up in your village of 500 and start raping the kids"

"This has now happened, God knows how many times in Britain"

🚨 1/ SCOOP We all know Pamela Paul is not a good journalist. But in her (poorly argued) WSJ screed on the alleged "growing divide" in LGBTQ circles abt trans rights, she reports ESPECIALLY badly—including abt Jose Arango & his boyfriend who dumped him.

Paul didn't talk to the boyfriend.

I did.

This kind of reporting that is just intentionally trying to stoke public hysteria in one of the safest countries in the world should genuinely be illegal. So much of our far right politics is people living in small towns who have been convinced by the press that they're about to be murdered.

The political and media mainstream have allowed 'the left are just being hysterical when they call literally anyone a racist' to become such a common-sense idea that I fully believe some conservatives are joining the party in a state of total denial about their beliefs.
Reform needs to be studied as a social contagion that millions of people have 'caught' without any reference to its policies or the character of its leading figures, up to the point that people *are becoming councillors* without knowing what it stands for.

Interesting paper! When you ask people about the most important issue "facing the country," they often say immigration. But when you ask them about issues facing them personally, it doesn't crack the top 10.

This indicates that voters are reacting to media narratives, not their own experience.

the key to understanding today's moment in journalism is specifically a subset of elite journos at NYT/Free Press/WaPo who basically adopt the position of the main character of NIGHTCRAWLER (2014) when it comes to their role in the news
maybe a hot take but I think that journalists like Astead (if you can even call him that) should be focused on the fact that Trump has appointed a bunch of deranged antivaxxers instead of the fact that libs got vaccinated four years ago

There's a whole segment of great Victorian paintings that can be described as 'dark reimaginings of Greek myth' and you could say they're the 19th century version of creepypasta where there's a spooky version of a pokemon game in which Gary dies.
