Just occurred to me that, if Labour MPs wait until *after* the 2026 locals to move on Starmer, then heโd still be PM for most of next summer (assuming there wasnโt a coronation in the race to replace him) when it inevitably all kicks off again

The answer to this is that if we do not repeatedly reinforce the taboo against this stuff and explain why it is wrong it gets worse. โJust call it namesโ does not work. Weโve seen the failure of that over the past 18 months.

Yeah, these were the specific ads I was thinking of. I recognise it's not *that* different from, like, a timelapse feature, but using it for a normal photo with your friends is just... weird to me
Those ads advertising the ability to put yourself in a group shot of a photo sicken me. You're not preserving a moment at that point, you're creating a fabricated reality.

Yeah, I feel like I should be a lot less reliant on my IPhone camera. I also feel like the amount of auto processing counters the improvements in resolution. Things are quite fuzzy when you zoom in

This reminds me, I hate how common it is now to advertise phone cameras with features that defeat the point of a photo being to capture a specific moment in time

I have a DSLR specifically because phone camera auto-processing is so overwhelming to the experience of taking a photo
I used to love taking photos as a kid, but when phones became the replacement for entry-level photography it wasn't the same, and until I borrowed a DSLR I didn't realise quite why
