Wanted to do a "Games I've played" thread for this year. So, err, this is the starting post
Yeah, we had similar and I was annoyed by it

Trying to find a way to segue into my tangentially related argument that Welsh should be taught in English schools

In my experience they don't *push* British children to learn any other language.

Lessons start too late and are too few, and virtually nobody remembers any of it after leaving school. It's tokenism.

Why do we push British children to learn the language of the country we are literally linked to by an underwater trainline?

A bizarre attempt to be transparent whilst making himself look better and also getting a dig in at the government (published during Starmer's meeting with MPs last night as well)
BREAKING: Wes Streeting publishes his private WhatsApp messages with Peter Mandelson in apparent attempt to draw a line under their friendship. They reveal:

:: He feared being โ€œtoast at the next electionโ€ in his Ilford North seat, adding: โ€œThere isnโ€™t a clear answer to the question: why Labour?โ€.

What makes the juxtaposition even funnier is *he* published those WhatsApp exchanges around the same time this column landed
This is the funniest headline I seen in a long time. And bravo to whoever underlined the desperation with the juxtaposed link.

I despair at media coverage of a lot of things, but I do feel like sometimes there's a tendency to misread a "please don't get us sued - ed" disclaimer as a defence of the person or organisation in question

Ngl, I kinda assumed you had ties there from your level of familiarity

Also, I mostly like the Danganronpa 2 cast, but could they not have retconned the chef being a sex pest? It's weird enough in the game when he's just a static image
February 10, 2026 at 12:19 AM
I'm guessing that Despair is going to have a similar reveal to Danganronpa 2 at some point, 'cos otherwise it all feels... off
February 10, 2026 at 12:16 AM
A few episodes into Danganronpa 3 (the sequel anime, not the game)

Thoughts on the Future Arc so far: Boy, you can really tell Zero Escape was made by the same company

Thoughts on the Despair Arc so far: what the fuck?
Started with the adaptation of the first game, and it's making me appreciate how well localised the game was. Stuff like translating "Super High School Level" to "Ultimate". It loses some of its meaning, but the more accurate translation in English is just a mouthful

I'm not complaining

To be clear, Starmerites, this is not some indication the public is less keen for Starmer to go than BS suggests. If anything, my Mum being unsure if he should go or not less than two years into office is pretty damning
February 9, 2026 at 11:17 PM
Oh, yeah, 100%, I just can see how it seems like a double standard if you're not abreast of all the details

to be fair, not exactly great look that Starmer has spent almost a year sucking up to Trump who is arguably as prominent in those files as Epstein himself
February 9, 2026 at 11:10 PM
(For context, my Mum is fairly tribal Labour but has been pretty pissed off with the government over stuff like the welfare bill, so this isn't some blind loyalty to Starmer)
February 9, 2026 at 11:10 PM
Like, ultimately we shouldn't let things slide just because Trump is impervious to consequences, but, when you take a step back, it does seem bizarre that it could topple a PM who isn't directly implicated but not, y'know, the President who is
February 9, 2026 at 11:08 PM
Anecdotal data: my Mum is unsure if Starmer should go or not, but it's largely out of a sense of confusion as to why the Epstein scandal is seeing a ton of fallout in Britain but not in America. I did point out to her that the fallout is more Europe-wide than just Britain, but I kinda get her point.
