I feel like Corbynism has a coherent theory of why Blairism was bad whereas Starmer's crowd seem to be against it on vibes

Problem with any anti-Starmer tweet that gets attention is I inevitably have to hear the thoughts of people who think Starmer is Blair 2.0, when a lot of the Starmer project's reactionary tendencies are an attempt to distance itself from the socially liberal aspects of Blairism
Starmer "led Labour to a thumping victory nobody thought possible" is one of those weird revisions of history, when 400+ seats was obviously in the realm of possibility from the moment the first post-minibudget polls dropped in September/October 2022

Ah, well, nevertheless
Yeah, they're following the July 2022 playbook, 99% certain he'll have announced he's resigning by PMQs on Wednesday
Am told Eluned Morgan, First Minister of Wales, is going to follow Anas Sarwar in calling for the PM to stand down;

Also that there will be "Scottish MP ministerial resignations" afterwards

Ministers saying it's the end game...

I was there, surrounded by Labour people, when the exit poll dropped to a collective “Well… that’s still pretty good!”

I will not be gaslit.

“There was no enthusiasm for Labour” was Tory cope but it was also true, they severely underperformed the polls and got their massive majority from tactical voting

arguably the biggest news of the week that Lisa Nandy is currently doing something related to her brief
Only three cabinet ministers have not Tweeted or put out a message of support for Starmer:

Wes Streeting
Shabana Mahmood
Lisa Nandy (who is at the Winter Olympics)

This could of course change, but it's where we're at just before 3:30pm

quite funny that the entire Labour party has been spending months saying "let's wait for our Welsh and Scottish colleagues to be massacred before doing anything hasty" without really thinking through if anyone outside of England could hear them

We are still just about in the window where, depending on how long a leadership contest lasts, he might be PM for less time than Sunak
The single most incredible thing to come out of all this is Kemi is going to wind up outlasting Keir. You could probably have got 10000 to 1 odds on that this time last year.

Okay, but that isn’t true about Trump in 2024.

I swear, something about anglosphere countries leads us to think groups voting slightly less heavily for the losing side than before makes them more important than the groups that voted for the winning side
Astonishing chart showing support for Takaichi by age.

Traditional narrative is that surfeit of old people in Japan is keeping conservatives in power, but as with Trump in 2024, young people were main driver behind Takaichi's landslide victory.

Okay, so it’s a coordinated effort, that makes more sense

The way Chris pincher has been basically been erased from boris downfall is really instructive in Westminster culture and how these people get away with it
I see we're back to "Johnson resigned because of a party" and not because he employed a known sex pest, lied about what he knew, and more than half his cabinet resigned as a result.

BREAKING: Keir Starmer is not resigning and will be 'concentrating on the job in hand', Downing Street has said

His mood this morning has been described as 'upbeat' and 'confident'

It does make me proud of our culture that we’ve all pretty universally agreed that a 97 yr old lady dying of a preexisting illness was Liz Truss’ personal fault
And Johnson and Sunak, I suppose, but nobody shat the bed quite like Liz. Killed the queen, fucked the pound, properly pissed off bloody everyone, including Tory voters, all in the space of like a fortnight. Outlasted by a lettuce. Let's not forget her achievements pls.

Gumshoe, my love, to me has more specifically a 1930s / 1940s accent.

The English localisation of Ace Attorney being set in LA was obviously an overly cautious decision and I tend to just ignore it and pretend it's set in Japan anyway, but I do find it hard not to imagine Dick Gumshoe with a thick New York accent
Though, whilst the localisation of the first game is pretty good, I am now realising it's weird that the bribe motive is in dollars and not yen, given the English version is still obviously set in Japan. It's not doing the Japanifornia thing from Ace Attorney
