I understand it's just a conceit, but it's always very funny to me that the universal translator in ME can handle basically any situation and slang except inflecting tone for an Elcor, who literally announce their intended tone

The English localisation of Ace Attorney being set in LA was obviously an overly cautious decision and I tend to just ignore it and pretend it's set in Japan anyway, but I do find it hard not to imagine Dick Gumshoe with a thick New York accent
Though, whilst the localisation of the first game is pretty good, I am now realising it's weird that the bribe motive is in dollars and not yen, given the English version is still obviously set in Japan. It's not doing the Japanifornia thing from Ace Attorney
