Wanted to do a "Games I've played" thread for this year. So, err, this is the starting post
Did you know that Resident Evil 4 is based on a true story and, in reality, there was no Las Plagas? Leon was just a guy the EU hired to punish that village for refusing to adopt the Euro

Watching every episode of Death in Paradise except the ones where the lead changes, so I can headcanon it as a Doctor Who spin-off show about a Caribbean island having a Time Lord as its chief inspector

I am currently having this with whether or not I should get Resident Evil Requiem for PS5, a system I have every Resident Evil on, or for Switch 2, a system I don't even own yet
Theory: own multiple systems so you can play the best version of everything

Practise: ruin your enjoyment of a game because you get genuinely emotionally distressed over if you got the right version

It is amazing how indie games have literally EVERYTHING now.

Dieselpunk RPG where you play as a lady smuggler in 1930s New York with flying cars.

Real-rime tactics where you need to escape 18th century Spanish monastery.

Morrowind and Mike Mignola inspired post-apocalyptic RPG.

It’s quite funny that, when you factor in the ~30% of the 360 library that’s backwards compatible (as well as the smattering of supported original Xbox games) alongside the pretty much perfect Xbox One compatibility, the Xbox Series X technically has the strongest library of any console ever
Also, we went from no backwards compatibility being the norm for nearly 15 years to two consoles with the best backwards compatibility any console has ever had

Also, doing my GOTY prompts made me realise how even a fairly flat year, like 2021, has a ton of indie gems now
The gaming line up for last year and this year is so ridiculously stacked when there isn't someone yapping in your ear claiming no games are coming out
Honestly, I don’t know what the hell people are talking about when they say the PS5 has been a bad console. Sure, Sony’s first party lineup has been lacking, but there’s still been plenty of decent third party releases.

I think the PS6 being pushed back is warranted and maybe even preferable, but bemused every time this convo comes around and people act like the original plan of 7 years was some insanely fast turnaround
this RAM crisis feels like it’s going to ruin consumer electronics over the next decade. Bloomberg reports that Sony is considering pushing the PS6 release to 2028 or even 2029 www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Did some rough measurements of my hands. Realising the reason why I didn’t relate to people with big hands saying they find the Steam Deck really comfortable is that I actually have pretty average, if slightly below average, sized hands, lol

We're back with a one off poll ahead of Resident Evil's 30th anniversary next month.

Rank as many mainline (see image for what counts) Resident Evil games as you wish. If you strongly dislike a game, it is better not to rank it at all.

If you need help ranking, see follow-up tweet

I love Disco Elysium, but this thread is a very good critique of it
I say "himpathy simulator" about disco Elysium and people say "no but the main character in DE is very clearly an unlovable asshole".

And....

I’m leaning more towards disliking Danganronpa V3’s ending. Partially that’s because it’s set me off on a mild existential anxiety spiral, but also because it feels kinda… unearned?
I sort of knew where things were going from a mix of spoilers and filling in the gaps. I don’t innately dislike the premise of the ending, but I think they went a bit overboard in execution and was also kinda just bored at how much it hammered the point home

“An excessively meta sequel that tested my patience”

Just finished Danganronpa V3 and… oh, you sweet summer child, Jules of a week ago
7. Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair
(2012, Steam Deck)

An excessively meta sequel that tested my patience. I think I preferred the first, despite this being mostly improved mechanically. In its defence, I’ve been ill through most of my playthrough, so it may grow on me

[6/10] (may rise to a 7)

7's ranked lower just because it's so damn scary. But I could replay RE-make 2 any day of the week. 5 and 0 are underrated.

RE-make 2 (2019)
RE-make (2002)
RE 4 (2005)
RE Village
RE-make 4 (2023)
RE-make 3 (2020)
RE 7
RE 5
RE 0
RE 2 (1998)
RE 1 (1996)
RE 3: Nemesis (1999)

With it being 25 years since the UK foot and mouth outbreak, we went back in time to get the reactions from the party leaders.

Keir Starmer: seems bad

Ed Davey: seems bad

Kemi Badenoch: I know it’s all about PlayStation these days, but I still enjoy a session on my best friend’s Sega Mega Drive

Public rioting over this new system of some GCSEs being graded A,B,C etc and others being graded 1,2,3 etc, would be justified.
