Labour is going to introduce safe routes for those claiming refugee status while everybody here is talking about ‘jewellery theft’ proposals. I strongly suspect the latter was meant to divert Sun readers’ attention from clocking the former while you are meant to be welcoming the former. 🫤

It would still be a hateful policy either way, but it is fucking cheeky to justify seizing family heirlooms to pay for asylum costs when foreigners seeking citizenship are charged 1000%+ of the administrative cost at every step of the way.

I'm sorry, I have as much distrust of some media outlets as others but when they are citing departmental sources, literally being briefed by officials, and then you have a minister on the airwaves quasi-confirming it as incoming policy - to continue to deny that's the case is just wishful thinking.
