The Lord of The Rings movies were rated PG-13. By current rules that means that each film could contain one use of the word "Fuck". Which line are you altering to insert the most useful swear word?

Always funny to be reminded by news media that there are people for whom the King's / Queen's speech is an important, immutable, and meaningful tradition. I've spent my entire life in this country and never knowingly met anyone who gives even the smallest fuck. Have never watched a second of it

Deeply torn between this being whimsical and the certain knowledge that the UK is absolutely weird enough to elect Charles as Head of State over and over again until he dies before following the same shtick with William.
Watching the King's speech and naturally thinking about a future Republic. Perhaps a way to sell an elected Head of State here is to guarantee that the current pretender to the throne after abolition can have a place on the ballot paper every election, so monarchists can vote for them if they want.

die hard may or may not be a christmas movie but you know what definitely is? revenge of the sith. it is essentially "what if jesus turned evil," or as it's known in judaism, "what if jesus"

a lot of people don't realize that Christmas carols and traditions are actually folk memories of suppressed pre-Christian events, namely the end of the Third Age and the Fall of Sauron.

We must fix the UK's malaise by paying historians £68.5m a year.
A new year’s wish that we all start framing paying taxes as positive and patriotic contribution to a better world for all. Thank you Anthony Joshua! I’ve just paid mine too. They were quite a lot less than yours, but for some reason most historians don’t earn £68.5m.
He isn't "losing" this money. This is called "paying tax like a responsible citizen and not hiding your money offshore" and we need to start recognising and applauding it.

European security analysts need to grapple with the fact that in addition to Russia and America, an expansionist Israel is the most pressing threat to the freedom of European states.
My prediction is that there will be settlements in occupied Syria beyond the already occupied Golan before there will be the return of settlement in Gaza

If Reform get in, they will do their absolute best to make purges and punishments like this the norm at every university.
December 23, 2025 at 9:38 AM
I doubt this for a few reasons but the primary one being, even Morgan McSweeney isn't reckless enough to allow Scottish Labour to go into an effective coalition with Reform
People think I'm joking when I say I think Scottish Labour will try to run a minority government if they finish second.

I'm really not, and I think they'll try it even if there is a razor-thin pro-union majority.

It'll be chaos, but who doesn't love a bit of that?

Lot to take from this projection but the fact that the Tories are a seat away from being last is the most notable for me, a turning point for Scottish Unionism and conservatism.

Exceptionally funny that people are moaning about the price we pay for doctors whilst aggressively supporting methods to undercut our supply of doctors.
The UK is now facing an emigration crisis and a shrinking population. It must, must, must reverse engines on immigration immediately - throw the doors open and wave people in. Otherwise we are inviting disaster.
