Uh actually how does this work? I would like to know.
You have demonstrated no awareness of how the American electoral system functions.

I at least know I have no idea how a single candidate is selected by a party in the UK.

Until recently, I worked for a Canadian-US company that served a high-end hobbyist niche. Our average customer was a 70 year old white guy, most of whom were about as woke as a coma patient, and the things they'd say to me regarding the tariffs would land us both on a watchlist if printed.

Just checking, it's now ok to flee your homeland, because you're afraid for your safety, and seek refuge in another Country?

Glad we've cleared that up. Let's hear no more about immigration and refugees then.

We need a moratorium on UK people commenting on American politics unless they demonstrate knowledge of the differences between the American electoral system and the UK’s

i think this is what drives me nuts. people talk about how, say, the UN was founded by "starry eyed idealists" who didn't understand "reality." the truth is that the UN was founded by those who had just fought and *won* the bloodiest war in human history.

hello and welcome to the political genius exam. here is question one. which is a more compelling message:

- the president is sending armies to occupy cities and kidnap and kill people and your town could be next
- a meal at the cheesecake factory that previously cost $100 now costs $104.9
Romance alert: Trump's reckless tariffs have Valentine’s Day costs up across the board:

Roses 🌹16.6%
Chocolates🍫 18.7%
Ribeye 🥩 25.4%
Restaurant meals 🍽️ 4.9%

hey Queers did things improve over the Obama years?
That's what happens when incremental losses are sold as incremental progress. Everything has been consistently getting worse for decades. There's a reason Obama's tagline was "hope" and not "progress;" things were already bad with no sign of improving- and they didn't improve.

Yes it’s Valentine’s Day. But it’s also the chosen birthday of Frederick Douglass who was born in 1818 on a plantation in Talbot County, Maryland. He escaped from slavery & rose to become the most eloquent and forceful voice for the abolition of slavery & for Black voting rights in the U.S.

One big problem with America is that I think the second message does matter more to a significant percentage of people.

I think long term it matters more to focus on the former but I get why politicians hit the latter.

There’s an odd folk history on here where Nazi Germany had to learn their evilness from the US (SS learned from slave catchers) but then the US imported Nazis after WWII.

Either way, the US ends up being the ultimate baddy.
Remember, 1600 Nazis were welcomed into the US after WWII as part of Operation Paperclip. Some were SS officers, it's because of Nazis the US had a space program.

Yeah the US likes it's Nazis.

For me this is very simple.

There is widespread, longstanding practice of using "Zionists" as coded slur for Jews, or "Jews I don't like" (regardless how they define themselves).

That is sufficient reason to refrain from broad-brush language such as "Zionism=Racism" or "Zionists not welcome".
Here is an explanation on why Jewish Greens (who obviously don't speak for every single Jewish person in the party, etc) are so opposed to the Zionism is Racism motion brought to the #GreenParty's spring conference.

Why Jewish Greens are urging party members to vote against MOTION A105: ZIONISM IS RACISM - Jewish Greens
Jewish Greens oppose motion at party conference unintentionally antisemitic

You can also defuse swearing this way.

It’s got my then six year old to stop saying “shit” when I leaned over and conspiratorially asked them if they wanted to know what it means.
