IMO Czechs were pretty stupid to stop playing with an extra man, they were up 2-0 that way!
These refs have been bad tonight. This is after the Harley shot was blocked. Via @thomasdrance.bsky.social

Canada has many of the best players on earth and it’s still a totally different game when McDavid and Makar are out there.

"The findings suggest that White Americans who perceive themselves as ranking at the bottom of the racial economic hierarchy—specifically those who feel tied with Black Americans—were the most likely to support Donald Trump."

Sort of feels like one of the many axes on which society oscillates is cocaine vs heroin. When I was a kid, cocaine was the big bad. For the past 20 years it’s been heroin/opiates. Looks like coke’s making a comeback.

If anything, we should be allowing universities to recoup that dreadful 10% tuition cut for those who can pay, and eliminating tuition on a means-test basis. Instead, Ford's cuts to OSAP supports will only make things worse for students, while the 2% escalator will keep university budgets strangled.

Half of all university students graduate with zero debt. The student population is disproportionately upper and upper-middle class. Tuition subsidies are inherently regressive. And yet student and faculty organizations continue to support a policy that does but one thing: damage quality.

We live in a political context where maintaining programs, class sizes *and* 'free tuition' are impossible. The best system is one where those who can afford to pay do, and those who can't have the costs covered for them. The Ford government has failed spectacularly at both goals.

No, you pay a small fraction of the true costs because tuition has been kept artificially low, at what has become a real cost to the quality of education. Cost of living dwarfs tuition as an obstacle to access post-sec ed. www.ctvnews.ca/london/artic...
‘We do pay absurd amounts to be here already’: Mixed reaction at Western and Fanshawe to post-secondary tuition hike

This has been my hunch for a while, but it's good to have it confirmed.

As I've noted before, Obama faced the same challenge with race that JFK did with religion. Their enemies were so primed to charge them with playing favorites they felt the need to downplay a topic closely tied to them.
Political scientist Dan Gillion analyzed presidential speech and found that Obama talked about race and racial issues less than any other modern president

I'm not gonna do the whole rant again but if your only goal was a selfish desire to never be asked for change at an intersection the cheapest way to achieve that is also the most humane way. We choose not to do it because our society is addicted to punishing individuals for structural problems.
