This is the kind of action I want to see from my Congresspeople. Thanks Rep Jayapal.
My Trans Bill of Rights protects the freedom for all trans people to live as their full, authentic selves. It’s time to get this passed!

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

I'd say "oh look, people are mistaking fat-shaming MAGAs for political action again" but it has never, ever stopped.
I’d rather be fat than a fascist. It’s important to remember that only one of those things is actually shameful

I would like a fruit-bearing hedgehog, please
It was believed in medieval times that hedgehogs had spikes so they could roll over fruit to carry home to their children, which is not true but is a really cute idea

Almost everyone "on the left" doesn't have a problem with machine learning, or technology, or progress. They do have problems with security, safety, mental health outcomes, plagiarism, labor distributions, and environmental & energy impact.

Industry regulation is not some unreasonable leftist ask.

NHS closed Tavistock over care complaints – there were only eight
An eye-opening FOI report has revealed that just eight people complained about the Tavistock gender clinic's care provision in 10 years.

Portland! Seattle! Folks in Europe! Don't sleep on seeing SPRINTS on this tour. They were so much fun in San Francisco at The Chapel. It was awesome to see a sold out SF crowd enjoying a band we love from KEXP.

There is a major political organization allied with the president that got so mad a Latino artist was tapped to play at the Super Bowl they made a whole alternative show. We should all take a moment to reflect on that. It is so blatantly racist.

Children are amazing and hilarious, and adults who appreciate them are some of the best people in the world.

Also: people who can credibly improvise and be a good sport about it.

Wow. Just.. wow.
No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology
She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

My parents divorced when I was 5. My dad was... not good at entertaining children. I spent a lot of bored, lonely hours on "his" weekends.

But he had a bunch of old 8-tracks. I must have listened to "Himself" 100 times at least.

What a crushing disappointment Cosby turned out to be.
Bill Cosby (especially the "Himself" stand-up film) was a huge part of my childhood. My family and I quoted him at each other for decades (especially the line "parents are not interested in justice, they want quiet"). I can't bring myself to watch him anymore, and I hate that.

you personally have the ability to secure elections for yourself and your neighbors.

as i keep saying, the things to do to secure elections are to volunteer to work the polls or to serve as an observer, & to pressure your *state representatives* to take steps to further secure voting locations and ballots. you should also learn about how election administration works in your area.
February 5, 2026 at 1:35 PM
WA state doesn't doesn't "go to the polls" - we vote by mail. But most places do, and it is notoriously hard to recruit enough poll WORKERS for election days. So you can also get involved via becoming a poll worker for the day.
A good thing you can do about this instead of dooming is Google “how to become a poll observer in [your town]”
Breaking:

The White House press secretary just said she "can't guarantee" that ICE won't be around polling locations in November.
