"Could a heightened sense of spirituality change all this?"

This is a topic I am going to be digging into in 2026: How spirituality may provide that sense of positive self-efficacy for #ClimateInfluence. I will def. connect with Dr. Eise, but also - ... are any of *you* studying this? Pls DM me.
"Because the past decades’ primary frames used to encapsulate climate change tend to be primarily political or otherwise distant from an individual perspective, I believe these frames have failed at being effective in promoting positive self-efficacy" Jessica Eise www.sierraclub.org/sierra/emerg...

We keep eating animals and are pushing our only planet to a point of no return in sea level, ocean acidification, deforestation / desertification / burned land, biodiversity loss, soil erosion, species extinction and climate crisis.

There is no Planet B.

To personally start addressing this doesn't require an all cars vs. no cars argument either.

Find a few things per week you can do without a car. Small changes can save you a huge amount of money, make you healthier, and make a dent in the American thirst for oil.
Just an annoying reminder that the unquenchable American thirst for oil, and the conquest and subjugation of other nations in futile attempts to satiate it, is brought to you in large part by our land-use patterns

Loved Tanenhaus’s point: « To make sense of his rise we do well to set aside data-tested political science and look instead to the lessons of art «

May this be an understanding spread across the U.S. via other progressive mayors.

There’s democracy gold in that « politics is cultural » truth.
Insightful essay by Sam Tanenhaus, who turns not just to political science and punditry but to “the lessons of art,” in particular the fiction of Joseph O’Neill, to shed light on the meaning of the Mamdani moment.

For emphasis:

« In a 2012 Los Angeles study, more than half of the store owners on the bike-laned part of the boulevard thought most of their customers drove. The actual number was 15%.”

Bike infrastructure is good for local biz. Support city leaders who know and forward this. #ClimateInfluence
“Survey after survey has shown that business owners overestimate how many customers drive to their stores vs walking or biking. In a 2012 Los Angeles study, more than half of the store owners on the bike-laned part of the boulevard thought most of their customers drove. The actual number was 15%.”
I read all the studies on the economic impact of bike lanes. Here's what I learned.
Research proves that bike lanes are good for business. So why do so many stores and restaurants still oppose them?

I like this approach to New Year’s « resolutions »: Instead of chasing goals like going to the gym more or trying to eat less sugar, you aim to live into a new chosen identity. It’s bigger picture and likely all the little goals will happen along the way. May my identity be joy and abundance.
