- Kadyn Proctor as Lane Johnson’s eventual replacement?
- The Eagles invested a 1st/2nd-rd pick on a pass catcher every draft from 2018-2022. Will they get back in that cycle?
- Is a QB possible?

Kuper was on Vic Fangio's staff in Denver as the asst. O-line coach from 2019-2021. He then went to Minnesota to run the unit. He overlapped with Sean Mannion in 2023.
Kuper replaces Jeff Stoutland, who was the O-line coach for 13 seasons.

Kuper was the Vikings' O-line coach for the past 4 seasons. He played 8 seasons in the NFL with the Broncos.
The Eagles are hiring former Minnesota Vikings OL coach Chris Kuper as their next offensive line coach, per league source. (

The Eagles are hiring Ryan Mahaffey as run game coordinator/TE coach, per league source. (@RapSheet reported it first.)

Mahaffery follows Sean Mannion from Green Bay, where he was most recently WRs coach.

On a personal level: I've seen Stoutland's effect on the careers and the lives of so many men who've come through that locker room. He cared for Brandon Brooks and Lane Johnson when they needed him most — well beyond the field.

As someone who loves football, I'll miss watching him coach at practice

It's hard to view this as anything other than a major loss for the Eagles. Stoutland is one of the best coaches in his organization's history. He's lasted through 3 coaches and multiple schemes.
February 5, 2026 at 2:11 AM
My understanding is Stoutland’s role was going to be adjusted this season.

As @jeff-mclane.bsky.social reported last week, the run game coordinator responsibilities shifted last season.
The Eagles wanted Stoutland back, according to a league source. It sounds like this was Stoutland’s decision to step away.

From my understanding, he’ll still be welcome around the team in an unofficial capacity.
February 5, 2026 at 2:10 AM
Jeff Stoutland had a Pro Bowler in all 13 seasons with the Eagles. That’s the longest streak for any team since the merger in 1970.

He’s had 5 players earn All-Pro honors: Lane Johnson (2017, '21-24), Jason Kelce (2017-19, '21-23), Jordan Mailata (2024), Evan Mathis (2013), Jason Peters (2013-14).

Jeff Stoutland is leaving the Eagles.

Stoutland made the announcement on his social media accounts.

Much more to come.

I do have one idea, though: What if I kept doing the same newsletter independently? Who knows, it might even be better.

Opened up the mailbag on @theathletic.com to loads of questions about the OC search.

A number of them were focused on Nick Sirianni and his role in the offense.

Answered those questions here, with Part 2 on the offseason coming soon: www.nytimes.com/athletic/700...
