A lawsuit filed last week seeks to dramatically increase protection of streams and rivers from the impacts of cattle #grazing in the #Tonto #NationalForest.

Surveys in 2025 found damage to 55% of the 122 miles of waterways on the Tonto National Forest in #Arizona.

The Timbisha Shoshone Tribe and conservation groups just filed a lawsuit in federal district court to halt exploratory mine drilling near the springs and wetlands of #AshMeadows National Wildlife Refuge.

These waters, which feed into the #Amargosa River, are sacred to the Timbisha.

We have increased the reward to $15,000 for information leading to a conviction for the illegal killing of a #BaldEagle in southern #Louisiana.

These birds are federally protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act.

#Colorado Parks and Wildlife recently announced that a gray wolf, known as wolf 2305, died on Jan. 28 in Routt County during a collaring operation.

Every wolf matters in Colorado’s small, recovering population, and we are saddened by his loss.

We are urging #Colorado officials to move quickly to halt the sale of furs from native animals. The call comes ahead of a planned annual fur auction on Feb. 4 and 5 in Hugo, CO.

Thousands of pelts from animals labeled as #furbearers have typically been sold at this auction.

The federal hiring freeze of 2025 put seasonal additions to Olympic Park’s fisheries staff on hold. Though the freeze expired in fall, uncertainty over possible future hiring directives from the administration continues to pose challenges. Budget cuts compound the problem.

We're jumping for joy because California Fish & Wildlife has recommended that the state wildlife commission conduct an #EndangeredSpecies review for the western spadefoot.

The recommendation is an important step toward this #toad receiving protection as a candidate species 🐸🐸

An endangered #ocelot was recently spotted in the Santa Rita Mountains near #Tucson for the first time since 2014; researchers believe it was the same one seen by us in 2024.

Shell of a win for desert tortoises in California’s western Mojave Desert 🎉

A federal judge has prohibited off-road vehicle use in the tortoises' critical habitat, protecting more than 2,200 miles of proposed routes across 1 million acres of conservation lands.
