Animals that remind me of #F1 drivers, part 1:

Ollie Bearman is red panda, reacting to rock
a cat is looking out of a hole in a rock wall
Alt: A red panda is in an enclosure, comes out and is surprised by a rock. This adorable baby then rises up on hind legs and tries to menace the rock. Because red panda.

Good gods, the camera angles in Qatar are stunning! Love the serpentine line of cars with so much visibility as they enter a braking zone and then absolutely mash it on the exit 🥹 #F1 #QatarGP

Over on X, people like Nick Fuentes thrive

On Bluesky, autistic disability advocate AJ Link, president of the Nat’l Disabled Legal Professionals Assn (and an expert in space law) is banned

Singal? Bluesky changed the TOS to accommodate him

The racism and fascism are overt
Link's perma ban is wrong and should be reversed.

And what illustrates it being EVEN MORE WRONG, are recent suspensions with restoration with much much more egregious offenses in the same line of what Bluesky claims Link was banned over.

Maybe this is just me but if I had to periodically take a test where they showed me a picture of a giraffe and I had to say "that's a giraffe," I think I'd probably keep that to myself

King Lear, Kenneth Branagh, on pogo sticks.

(you just hear it: “never *squeebounce* never *ptoing*
never *squeak* never”)

(Offstage actors gently balancing in the wings in a shushed chorus of squeaks)

And yes, I’m already having a real one and it’s only 8:47am
Superman Lives, let's go.

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

Really important to stress that the Crown Jewels of the US higher education system were never the Ivies or elite SLACs (other countries have equivalents of these) but the well-funded, large, cheap, and excellently staffed public state university systems bringing high quality education to the masses.
One of the bragging rights that the US ed system had in the 20th century is that we didn't have education tracks. Essentially, any kid could go to a CC or state school & major in whatever they wanted to (obviously an oversimplification). I fear this aspect of the American dream is dying.
