I have long posited that Daniel Craig's accent in Glass Onion is better than Knives Out because in Knives Out he is trying to do a real Southern accent and is bad at it but in Glass Onion he is just talking like Foghorn Leghorn, which is something a real gay Southern weirdo would do.

If not now, then when?

You could remove "from art" from this sentence and it would still be basically true.
Sometimes I forget that people experience feelings from art other than aesthetic pleasure

Genuinely no shade, but I would love to see a chart of trans women graphing how much they enjoyed I Saw The TV Glow vs. how long they have been out.

Seems like Miss Violet's got a bee in her bonnet this morning.

100 part podcast series about why a big titty harem isekai is actually high art vs. calling women who read romantasy illiterate.

Genuinely I am starting to get radicalized on this. People are so eager to apply reparative readings to cishet men's fantasies while being hyper-dismissive of cishet women's fantasies. I am becoming the Girlboss Joker.
There's this pose I feel like I see more and more that basically boils down to "reparative readings for me but not for thee." Where people are willing to pan for gold and apply complex analysis to "trashy" genres/mediums they like but are super judgmental about other trash.

I am starting to get dark woke about people who spend all day dunking on YA/romance/romantasy/whatever is popular right now for cheap likes but their own writing is absolute skub.

As a person who loves huffing yesterday's garbage, I cannot tell you how much the phenomenon of popular but ineptly crafted entertainment is essentially a universal feature of human life and not a unique response to late capitalism

Words for what comes after postmodernism are like that xkcd comic about standards.

A story I wrote...available for free. Can you believe it? I'm pretty sure this is the first free one since like 2021.

You could spend the afternoon once again discoursing on genre again, or you could do a study of Wojciech Fangor's circles for your own edification as a human being

The weird thing about Dramione to me is that when I was young the books weren't done and the ship seemed to be predicated on the idea that Draco would be revealed to have a tragic backstory and redemption arc but that didn't happen in the books yet people into it even more now.

I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

Probably my biggest beef with contemporary literature is the condescending and disingenuous characterization.
There are certain writers who I adore as people & as public figures, and I get every single one of their novels bc I love the concepts. And every time I get one or two chapters in & their patronising attitude to the reader, expressed through language choices & characterisation, boils my piss.

Starting a booktok softgirl alt in order to bamboozle my rivals and stifle competition with soothing lies and terrible writing advice.

Not even trying to be glib or dunk, I feel like I don't even understand what the "crisis" in all the "men are in crisis" articles is even supposed to be.

Saw a post talking about "some deviantart account that draws characters getting electrocuted for some reason" and it's like, girl come on you know the reason.

My sister and I both made turkeys one year and I did a bunch of research and looked at recipes and I was gathering wild herbs and brining and dry rubbing and basting and she just fried hers and seasoned it with grocery store "turkey seasoning" and hers was way better. So just fry it, I think.

I understand not trusting Google but if you don't trust them when they say they aren't scanning your stuff for AI why would changing a few options in the settings change anything?

Annoys me when people talk about a lack of eroticism in millennial culture but all their examples are, like, superhero movies, cartoons, and video games.

Most bigots are absolute blockheads, and I find it genuinely insulting that I have to engage with them in any capacity, much less fight them for the scraps they call human rights.

What is the bodily fluid being discussed in the RFK "poem?" My first impression was pee, but then I saw people saying it semen, so I went with that in my own riffs, but now I am seeing a lot of piss takes, so to speak. Is there a consensus?
