Don't tell me what to skeet.
Don't tell me what not to skeet.
Read my skeets before replying to them.
Reply to the skeet as written, not to the imaginary other person who wrote some other skeet in your mind that made you mad at someone who is not me.
Oh no, I cannot help but take this seriously for two seconds and pretend that this isn't just some pretext to get an adjunct fired.

Right-wing paroxysms about "gender ideology" can be illuminated/articulated by contemplating Platon's notions of abstract objects and what they means for definitions.
From an email to one of our faculty members....

Not even Plato can escape censorship at Texas A&M!

Synopsis: You need to kick more people out.

You will actually have a larger base of customers/attendees if you kick more people out. You will make more money. I am dead serious.

Oh yeah. It was so frustrating hearing news reports circa 2022 speculating on why it was so hard for employers to find job applicants. BECAUSE A MILLION AMERICANS HAVE DIED YOU TWITS!!!! But no. It was because “people really don’t want to work.”

My discovery feed isn't as good
My discovery feed was a bunch of porn so I had to disable it. I only engage with news/politics as topics so no idea how that happened.

I'll always remember Doug as the guy who, as the camp fire destroyed a whole town full of his constituents, remained laser focused on his twin priorities of banning trans women from sports and delisting wolves from the endangered species list. Rest in piss bozo

If you want to see how jealous and envious people can get in the publishing field, type one of these search strings into your favorite web browser or social media app:

to see jealous girls: “Sally Rooney” skinny

to see jealous boys: “George R. R. Martin” fat

It's not that ultranationalists are somehow stupid enough believe that the military of Nation A would ever be greeted by liberators by the residents of Nation B, it's that they think that a sufficient fraction Nation A's moderates and mainstream conservatives are stupid enough to think so.

I do not agree with the statement that we aren't seeing mass mobilization in the US against Trump's actions in Venezuela.

There is mass mobilization in every city where ICE and CBP are operating. Do not confuse mobilization with marching and protests. Not everything is designed for spectacle.

US artist visas are now given based on your number of social media followers

I remember when I edited an anthology that included a story by @nmamatas.bsky.social and got a facebook message from a rando complaining it had instructions for homemade napalm in it. Good old days!
“ChatGPT started coaching Sam on how to take drugs, recover from them and plan further binges. It gave him specific doses of illegal substances, and in one chat, it wrote, ‘Hell yes—let’s go full trippy mode’”

A Calif. teen trusted ChatGPT for drug advice. He died from an overdose.

If you are trying to merge into heavy traffic or change lanes on a busy road/road construction.

Pull in front of a Tesla !

The Tesla driver may not want to let you move over, but the Tesla collision avoidance won't give them the option 😁

yay for the local management of that hotel, boo forever to Hilton for making them walk it back
That didn't last long.

"A few hours later, Hilton followed up with an updated statement, saying 'We have been in direct contact with the hotel, and they have apologized for the actions of their team, which was not in keeping with their policies...'"
Hilton Hotel That Refused DHS Reservations Backpedals
The hotel told 404 Media in a statement “We are in touch with the impacted guests to ensure they are accommodated.”

In a stunning breach of diplomatic norms, Trump's ambassador to the Holy See issued a statement that misrepresented Pope Leo’s remarks on Venezuela in order to defend the U.S. military invasion.

Such a misrepresentation is unprecedented in the history of formal relations between the two governments
Trump’s Vatican Ambassador Misrepresents Pope Leo’s Venezuela Remarks to Defend U.S. Military Action
Brian Burch’s public spin on Pope Leo XIV’s Venezuela remarks marks a striking departure from four decades of candor in U.S.–Vatican relations.
