Lost in such a spectacular career, Rob Reiner was in "The No-Cut Contract," one of the best episodes of THE ROCKFORD FILES, which is like saying one of the best hours of television ever. It's S2.E15 & is streaming on Prime and Roku.

Yes, hello? I don’t think 2026 is working properly. I’d like to cancel my free 5 day trial please.

Not every show needs to make 20+ episodes a year, but SO many current shows would be better off doing at least 10-13.
at the end of the broadcast era, we were pumping out 23 eps of Lost a year and now we can't get the second season of Heated Rivals, which has like 10 cast members, six locations, and no effects, until 2027. we must do better.

Chester!!!!
Watching a celebrity edition of Super Password, and during the bonus round, Dennis Weaver-- who famously played a cop on TV!-- cannot think of a good clue for "kill." All he can come up with is "eliminate."

He and Harvey Korman miss out on the $5000 for charity by just that one word.

yep. i can identify any number of structural issues but at the end of the day the basic problem is the republican party. this has been apparent for at least 20 years. it is also an incredibly unpopular observation to make among “serious” people.
Right.

If you want a good explanation of why the American system of government worked well enough for 200 years and then suddenly stopped, it's because Republicans in Congress suddenly started letting their partisan interests COMPLETELY override their institutional interests
a lot of problems wouldn't exist if we had a congress with even an ounce of self interest

It does not seem incidental that LLMs are being so heavily touted as all-purpose solutions by incredibly wealthy men accustomed to being surrounded by people who yes-and even their worst ideas, many of whom have descended into their own personal psychosis
For all that the media has spent years freaking out about what social media does to our brains, I don’t understand why there appears to be little effort to grapple with the fact that these chatbots are, for some not insignificant portion of the population, literally psychosis machines
He put his complete trust in a chat bot that turned him into a savage murderer.

My whole life, advocating war has been fed to me as “the adult position,” akin to drinking your coffee black or reading the business section of the newspaper. Let’s be very clear — war is the childish nonsense of impulsive destructive idiots playing baby-brained video games with real human lives.

Through the dot com boom and bust, and all the other booms and busts that tried to kill the SF music scene, The Bottom of the Hill was always the pillar, the rock of rock. It survived but this time next year, it’ll be gone.
