Working hypothesis: if you are a frequent hiker/do any kind of field work, The Blair Witch Project is deeply irritating rather than scary.

Grendel, honestly. An ur-text for us monsters.
Ok, everyone, what book is sacred enough to you to get sworn in on?
Strange takes on Mayor Zamdani swearing his oath on the Qu’ran. It has nothing to do with church & state. The point of the oath is for the person swearing in to do so upon some text that is sacred TO THEM. Some Presidents swore in w/o any book. John Quincy Adams was sworn on a law book. His choice.

I've seen the Thin Man movies a hundred times but have had them on all day as I did things around the apartment. Still, after all these years and all these viewings, at every night scene when they're in separate beds a part of me always screams, "What is this? Nick and Nora fuck!"

I would’ve preferred to read this without any context but still: pretty good!
It remains hilarious to me that they are trying to run the Raging Bull awards campaign for a movie about a guy who plays ping pong

When I was editing Bloody Fabulous, a spec fic anthology about fashion, I received a lot of stories from people who thought they could fake it. One memorable example was someone describing a model who liked Fluevog shoes and described them as “luxury”. Now this article

Blockbuster interview about institutional transphobia at the New York Times that names names of the bigots responsible: A.G. Sulzberger, Joe Kahn, Carolyn Ryan at the top, plus Pamela Paul, Jeremy Peters, Azeen Ghorayshi, Katie J.M. Baker, & an entire anti-trans pro-mgmt splinter group in the union
In this in-depth interview Billie Jean Sweeney — a former editor at The New York Times — details how the paper shifted towards openly promoting anti-trans hatred, why this was directed from the very top, how some staff pushed back and the immense damage done by the NYT legitimizing bigotry.

Me and who?
Perry Paul's The Madame: 12 stories in GUN MOLLS, 1930-1932, “The Madame From Cell No. 6” (Gun Molls, Nov. 1930).

The Madame is a gun moll, yes. She is an anti-heroine who helps people while also committing crimes.

New Year is huge for us, and I always loved it and made it home to celebrate even while living overseas. I was very lucky to have a loving and functional family; their absence is crushing. I keep myself busy and somewhat positive by muting big liberal accounts you lot reskeet for some reason.

Talk about your books, and talk about the books you love. Almost all of the books I read now are from people posting about them on Bluesky. I'll also often pick something up after seeing it discussed on Reddit, and on rare occasions someone I know will rec a book to me privately.

Call me old-fashioned but I don’t give a shit about what anyone eats, including bad people. Is it what makes them bad people (Jeffrey Dahmer)? No? Then who the fuck cares.

The absolute kindest thing anyone has ever done for me… thinking about my family today and miss them.
30) When I was released after my hospitalization my mom took me to visit some relatives (of the Baltic German branch) in Riga; our host’s son Kostya was severely schizophrenic. Mom never quite verbalized what she wanted for me from that trip but it was nice. Kostya had a lot of books (cont)

No nationwide sports ban enacted by Congress... Numerous states still maintain sanctuary protections." 1/2
The Case For Hope: Transgender Rights Going Into 2026
This last year has been one of the hardest years for transgender people in memory. Somehow, though, I'm feeling hope going into 2026.
