Listen. I try to be frugal and prudent. But I do love frivol.
Baltimore: if you have or know someone who has a little time and inclination: we need more folks to serve on the board of the last remaining conservatory in our city.

We are a small and scrappy board and we need to build up our numbers to be more effective !

Ice machines never break on like, a Wednesday. Only Fridays and Saturdays for these divas

eBay saved search, you magnificent bastard. I finally have the 1982 Baltimore Symphony poster within my grasp.

Baltimore PSA about the Amy Sherald exhibit: days and times are selling out for the remaining weeks. If you want to see this exhibit before it closes, purchase tix in advance!

Instead of being open on Super Bowl Sun we had a very rare day date & went to Philly to see the surrealism exhibit at the PMA.

Even tho D went to be supportive of my love of art he was really struck by one painting in particular & wants to create a cocktail inspired by it.

So, worth it.

Welp, got a one-star review for being closed on Super Bowl Sunday.

-We put a sign on the door
-We made an Instagram story post
-b/c we now have years of financials to show that ppl do not go out for cocktails during the Super Bowl

I’m reminded of the last house I lived in, which still had horse hair plaster and original windows. One of my roommates, an outdoorsy type, cheerfully stated that living there was “like camping, but inside”.

Tested out a burger competitor, still prefer Doug’s.

Huh. New Baltimore City website launched. Years in the making.

Today's frugal folly: repairing broken sunglasses, then obsessively trying different cleaning methods to get washi tape residue (used to keep the pieces of frame together while super glue was curing) off the lenses.
I dislike wasting food, so figuring out that too-tough granola bars broke down beautifully into my batch of oatmeal this morning was a tiny win.

Baseball. It's getting closer.

We have offered to host a fundraising night for the suddenly out-of-job employees. There’s a strong BA alumni faction who deeply care about the current staff. I’ll update if it happens.

Real sick of being cold. Lots of Enzo hangs at least.

I yearn for a Big Fluffy Dogs of Baltimore meetup
Polar Bears playing. Luna was absolutely desperate to play with Moby. We went to his house and didn't find him but we ran into him on the way home and they immediately went nuts. Good day.

Took a tumble down my rowhouse stairs, home internet went out, then I screamed expletives at rich boomers as they turned their huge SUV on us in the crosswalk - as D and Enzo walked me to a local coffee shop.

Really need the rest of the day to be chill.

Today I'm grateful we got a bar space so close to our house - a walkable commute is especially key in shitty weather.

bought this pair w/ several old LL Bean gift cards, carefully saved. Around the same time, D. went to a coinstar with our change bucket to get haircut money, to look put-together for interviews after a bbq place (unfairly) fired him. Eventually things got better, but I never feel far from the edge.
Turns out you can't really resole Blundstones, huh

Enzo hasn’t seen this much snow before, and it meant that he romped around with joy for a short period of time before his paws got too cold. He required some coddling and has now retired to the couch.

Snow day calls for beans on toast. Something we have rarely enough that it’s special. Usually it’s Heinz, but this time all the store had was Batchelors.
