Watching the new WUTHERING HEIGHTS tonight (aka “WUTHERING HEIGHTS”) and reminder that Andrea Arnold’s austere 2011 version is pretty much perfect (and doesn’t whitewash Heathcliff). Still excited about this new one, but Arnold’s is electrifying. Give it a look.

You can make money in a lot of lousy, dishonest ways, but somehow only in romance does it get written up as if it’s essentially harmless and smart, on the assumption that nobody who reads romance cares whether it’s good or not.
