From this minister's op-ed: "People wanting to experience God are more likely to meet the Divine trying to shut down the Broadview, Illinois, ICE facility than we ever were in church...God does not live in our houses of worship, but...with those who are bearing the brunt of cruelty in this moment."
Oh wow @reuters.com got the photo here:

was thinking of this later today & i realized that there was no way the “elderly couple” could’ve been older than 50s — he was an raf pilot — my dad idolized him — but they always had grandparent vibes to me
1975 was maybe the first year i had an image of a place called “the uk” or “england” — i watched a lot of canadian tv & my parents were friends with an elderly anglo-canadian couple & i imagined it as place both science-fictional & very old — i wondered if wwii might still be going on there

Sister Irene O’Connor :: Fire of God’s Love (1973)

aquariumdrunkard.com/2025/11/12/s...

Drenched in reverb and powered by organ and fuzzy drum machine, it sounds like a holy devotional side project by Broadcast—future music imbued with traditional faith.

“Then we came to the end of another dull and lurid year.”

it’s me, i’m tumbling not heaving
Nothing was said for some moments, while a succession of riotous waves rolled by, which by one of those occasional caprices of the seas were tumbling, not heaving it.

the big assouline ibiza book & gumby: 50 shades of clay
alright let’s get something more pleasant going. what two books would you leave out on your coffee table so a reporter can mention you have them. doesn’t matter if you’ve read them. for me it’s Pale Fire (which I did read) and Ulysses (got like 15% of the way in)

There is no 'congrats' loud or enthusiastic enough for the Penn State grad students, who didn't just win their union today, but did it by an utterly absurd 90 point margin.

I'm so proud and happy for them!!!!!

not a day goes by that i don’t watch this in myville; sometimes several times a day — & it’s not just drivers, it’s buses & city vehicles & cop cars & this is all aside from no one knowing how not to park in the crosswalk or not to creep into the crosswalk

Maybe it’s just the Humanities professor in me, but let it be noted that events of today (ahem) have demonstrated the value of being able to assess a large volume of qualitative data and do careful textual analysis with deep attention to context.
