Today we take a peek at (an excellent facsimile of) the Voynich manuscript, an inscrutable book in the collection of Beinecke Library at Yale University. It has sections found in other manuscripts - herbals and astrological materials - but the script is not found elsewhere and it's very strange.

when i was a little kid i asked my dad to read me farago’s *game of foxes* bc i thought it was actually about foxes (& i thought his name was cool) — he started it & we got a couple pages in & i stopped him & said “can we read babar instead?”
How could I have anything less than absolute trust in someone with the name "Ladislas Farago"?

i think a lot about how i used to excitedly anticipate the end of fall semester exams but when they were over i was always too exhausted to celebrate
There’s a good chance that when it finally happens it will happen on camera and you’ll get to enjoy watching it over and over and over for the rest of your life, and while that’s not much, it’s not nothing. We’ll have that.

happy Sunday, pals! in the liturgy of my childhood, we celebrated this day by lighting a candle for hope--a reminder in tenuous flame that we're not passive dreamers. we wait on a better world by preparing for it, by doing whatever good we can now.
