you don't have to read books to get better...it's all about vibes, really...focus on the worldbuilding, the writing just gets in the way of the story...people care about tropes way more than they care about characters...

Also, if I were a big city journalist, I might suspect the writer of this book to have certain preconceived notions about the state of gender and publishing.
