chicago media absolutely refusing to accept that Caleb Williams might be a good QB. 670 had Wannstedt on this morning and they kept being like “well thankfully he’s realized he’s not good at throwing a football and is just going to run a bunch instead”

what are you talking about? canonically James Bond is now 100 years old and has been played by six different people who don't look the same at all. Please give the audience a little credit.
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

Pro-Trump media went wild for a bombshell exposé claiming the Jan. 6th pipe bomber was a Capitol Police officer with CIA ties.

But now the story looks shaky, tweets are getting deleted, and the story's backers are running for cover. My @thebulwark.com newsletter: www.thebulwark.com/p/the-blaze-...
The Blaze’s Pipe-Bomb Bombshell Appears to Bomb
The right-wing outlet claimed to solve the Jan. 6th pipe-bomb mystery. Things quickly looked less certain.

The tech sector making it okay to wear jeans to work for traditional white collar jobs is probably the only truly great thing they have produced in the last 10 years.

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

The thing about this whole situation is that it was either extremely good 5D chess from Schumer where he was making offers that seemed super reasonable but knew the GOP wouldn't take, or he kept trying to surrender and the GOP were too stupid to agree

We now know what it was!
it's genuinely mind-boggling how this went from the best maneuver of Schumer's tenure to a complete omnishambling humiliation of the whole caucus in two days
Also like, the Dem leadership can't make a big show of making it about healthcare because it's the only issue that polls well enough for them to risk taking a stand on, blow out the Republicans in state and local elections in apparent vindication of that strategy, and then cave on healthcare anyway.

thank you chuck schumer 🫡 as so called political experts warned "you have no pants on" and "your whole ass is hanging out," it took incredible resolve to stand up and say, "Damn right my ass is hanging out! It's hanging out for the AMERICAN PEOPLE to look at. I like when everyone has to see it."

In the first Trump term GOP Senator John McCain saved the ACA with a "thumbs down" while dying of cancer. These Democrats need to be permanently known as those that are killing the ACA. Trump will be crowing about his win after this because of those spineless Democrats.

shutdown deal per AXIOS:

republicans get: government reopens and party avoids political consequences for refusing to make health care affordable

democrats get: seven beans, an old case logic CD wallet (empty), a coupon for 15% off Busch Gardens, one spiced pumpkin scented candle, a 6-pack of Zima

I will admit that this is the single funniest outcome of us doing a Keep Politics Out Of Sports after a guy kneeled
Government is shut down. Chaos in airports. 42 million going hungry. 24 million face skyrocketing healthcare costs. Economy in turmoil. And the president of the United States is in the Fox broadcast booth calling plays for a football game.

Okay, so as a policy matter, how would a vote on ACA subsidies in December - critically, after open enrollment in ACA plans has ended and everyone has chosen health insurance plans or, more likely, chosen NOT to have insurance - actually affect how many people benefit from any subsidies?

It doesn't actually matter if Chuck Schumer votes for this or not.

If he can't keep his caucus unified to protect healthcare for over 10 million Americans, he should resign as leader.

dick durbin genuinely might be one of the most damaging people to come out of illinois in the last century
Sens. Jeanne Shaheen (N.H.)
Maggie Hassan (N.H.)
Sens. Jacky Rosen (Nev.),
Tammy Baldwin (Wis.), Mark Kelly (Ariz.),
Jon Ossoff (Ga.),
Gary Peters (Mich.) Dick Durbin (Ill.)

the Democrats who are are considered by R's as possible “yes” votes for the deal.
Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and they will connect you with your senator's office.

If you're represented by one of the squishier centrists, be sure to make a call. Now.

at some point, Democrats need to have values and beliefs they are willing to fight for as actual legislatures in a power sharing system of government. If it is not literal Article 1 powers, then what will they actually fight for?
If 40 million people go hungry, it would be because the Trump administration ignored a court order, not because Democrats fought for Article I powers.
I think one thing we lose sight of is that it’s really easy to chant that we gotta touch the stove, and it’s a completely different thing to be the owner of the ongoing decision that 40 million people gotta go hungry. That’s a heavy thing and I’m not at all surprised that some Dems are worried.
