Behold: the first-ever list of news outlets that have banned generative AI in their reporting. As of today, this is literally information that you cannot find on Google.

My goal is to fill the starter pack, so please send over suggestions with supporting evidence!

Here's the thing: I don't think they are factually wrong.

I think a Democrat would likely win the 2028 Presidential election, assuming free and fair elections.

Whoever's gonna go *after* them in 2032, after what is projected to be a brutal reapportionment and redistricting process, scares me
Joe Rogan and Shane Gillis on Nick Fuentes running for president one day.

Rogan: “He could probably win in a few years. Listen, he couldn’t have existed before, right? Ten, twenty years ago, couldn’t have existed. Now, super popular. What’s twenty years from now look like?”

Now he is worried about being arrested and deported for the crime of monitoring online hate.

could someone who knows how to create feeds make one for the #catsofbluesky, #Blueskyねこ部, and #caturday tags combined? I can pay you in cat pics?
Japanese cat accounts have also largely coalesced around the hashtag #Blueskyねこ部 (which roughly translates to "Bluesky Cat Club")

Japanese posters are so much more organized than Americans lmao: @catclub.bsky.social, which runs the #blueskyねこ部 hashtag, requires users to register their cat's name and birth date before receiving a virtual membership card that allows their cat photos to be seen by the broader audience lol

A new study published on Dec. 8th in Nature calls for a cut in pesticide use to protect human health and ecosystems. Weak enforcement of pesticide laws has created public health risks.

Texas A&M won’t reinstate fired lecturer despite findings
A vice chancellor upheld the firing of Melissa McCoul, seen in a viral video being confronted by a student on her gender identity teachings, saying the termination was done with “good cause.”

Even more irony not mentioned in in this post,

The Capcom contest rules disqualify your entry if you share it on any other social media platform other than Twitter.
More irony: Last week, Capcom, one of the most successful Japanese video game companies, warned users participating in their ongoing Mega Man boss design contest not to use generative AI.

Winners would have their design incorporated into the new game and their names included in the credits.

Elon Musk fixing Bluesky's notorious problems attracting brands and government/quasi-governmental institutions by personally chasing the entire Japanese internet off Twitter for no reason
If — if! — Elon Musk's Generative AI "edit image" button forces Japanese video game companies like Capcom, Nintendo, and Sega to jump ship, it would be the greatest Christmas gift Bluesky has ever received. These companies are notoriously obsessive about protecting their intellectual property.

I need to start working on my night shift material for the burgeoning Japanese audience.
UPDATE: We may see the first time English is displaced as the most popular language among Bluesky posters as soon as Americans head to sleep tonight.

Japanese users were close to achieving that feat at 7 am Eastern Time, and their activity is increasing at an exponential pace. This is remarkable.

In 2025, we reported from places that rarely make headlines — South Sudan, Nigeria, Afghanistan, and more.

We’re still $9,000 short of our fundraising goal. If we don’t raise this by the end of the year, we’ll have to scale back our reporting. Click the link to donate.
