(Semafor) - The New York Times and Washington Post learned of a secret US raid on Venezuela soon before it was scheduled to begin Friday night — but held off publishing what they knew to avoid endangering US troops ..

this article does absolutely nothing to actually suggest the hate for AI is “uniquely American” www.nytimes.com/2026/01/02/b...

I have left this fully to the last possible moment but this year was both incredibly difficult and very joyful for me professionally and personally. It began with California on fire and it is ending with my dog Mango being sick with dementia which has been harder than I could have possibly imagined

as one does, I’ve been googling a lot of stuff recently and it’s crazy that more than a year in they still insist on putting wrong information via AI overview at the top of almost every search. crazy how quickly ive become accustomed to reflexively scroll past/ignore

Citibike is such a good system that has become a luxury good that prices out a bunch of people and makes little financial sense for a lot of rides even if you can afford it. Also extremely egregious pricing for people who regularly visit New York but don’t live there
Highway robbery:

For non-members, less than seven minutes on an e-bike is more expensive than the subway. And even for Citi Bike members, a ten-minute e-bike ride is as expensive as the subway.

It's time for New York City to subsidize bike share and cap runaway Citi Bike prices

While we should never forget that this was objectively hilarious, this story is also a serious warning about how AI is vulnerable to malicious training and prompts (although the prompts in this story made for great comedy) as well as the ease and authority with which LLMs can spread disinformation

many many artists are failing to meet their basic duty by playing for me and I am going to sue them for not touring often enough
This is the logical and inevitable conclusion of the last decade of elite media "free speech" discourse.

I just wrote an article about this and decided not to publish it yet. It is in the DOJ files (file got renamed after originally published and taken down. It’s online now). But too many unknowns about whether the letter itself is real or not. Some additional info though:
DOJ briefly uploaded this letter from Jeff Epstein to serial child molester Larry Nassar:

"Our president shares our love of young, nubile girls. When a young beauty walked by he loved to 'grab snatch,' whereas we ended up snatching grub in the mess halls of the system."

shockingly the 60 Minutes Inside CECOT segment is a little different in tone and rigor than the wildly viral video this random youtuber made earlier this year that yt commented hailed as rigorous important journalism

2025 was a big year for me and a horrifying year for the country. I hitched my wagon to 404 Media and trained my eye on the tide of nightmarish AI slop that's dominating our lives.

Here's some of my favorites from my first year with 404.

SCOOP: Flock left at least 60 of its AI-powered, people-tracking surveillance cameras exposed and livestreaming to the open internet. We tracked ourselves. The exposure highlights the power of these cameras and types of things they're tracking. Not just cars.
