Has anyone ever done a deep dive into the Japanese "evil as fuck inscribed on stone" aesthetic in games and determined where the common ancestor is is? Like, the Fused Shadow in Zelda Twilight Princess, the stone elements in Shadow of the Colossus, Yami from Okami, the Shadow Lord from Nier, etc.
