Just learned that AIPAC has now jumped into a fourth open seat House race in Illinois, backing Melissa Conyears Ervin with what has been described as a $2.8 million buy (around $500k a week).
This is straight up AIPAC, not a shell PAC, through United Democracy Project.

Living in this country, it’s just a reality that the left and liberals are expected to do more and uphold more. I don’t know how you can come away with any other conclusion than that when you flip the script on the above premise.

wrote about st. mary’s cathedral in san francisco, which was built on this site partially because of parking minimums that came into effect in 1960, right before st. mary’s II burned down a few blocks away

it's obvious in retrospect, but i didn't realize that st. mary's was the unplanned beneficiary of a large urban renewal clearance project that flattened this part of western addition in the late 1950s

critics so savaged the archdiocese’s original choice of architects—the relatively unheralded local partnership lee, ryan & mcsweeney—that they went out and added pietro belluschi and pier luigi nervi to the team and gave them free rein

Here's the Trib editorial board saying that ICE requiring a warrant signed by a judge before arresting someone is "going through the bureaucratic hoops"
From the Editorial Board: Minnesota, even in its grief and trauma over the needless deaths of two of its citizens at the hands of the state, is managing to show that communication and negotiation are possible.
Editorial: Illinois should consider pragmatic tweaks to its sanctuary law
In Minnesota, Democratic politicians are negotiating pragmatic policy changes regarding their sanctuary policies. Illinois should do the same.

one thing the Democrats are kind of sleeping on is the subpoena power of state legislatures combined with the fact that virtually all of the conduct described by the Epstein files occurred in blue states

Every study shows that being in a jail or prison, no matter how "nice" or whatever, shortens your lifespan. It does. So the government is taking years off the lives of people, including children, when it opts to put them in jail.

1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.

Hundreds of kids are still detained.

We’ll let the children’s words speak for themselves. 🧵

The only reason anyone still believes the right likes sports or are good at sports is because the newspaper tells you that. The dumbest, least athletically inclined and ugly white people are the American Right and they're mad that they're ugly and stupid and bad at sports and that's just the truth
idk how the athletes with their whole lives still ahead of them will handle this rebuke from a thrice divorced man who drunkenly runs over puppies & is at war against fiber
