Ableism in America: How Christian Nationalism Informs Project 2025
Americans with disabilities and their families have long fought for equal protection under federal and state law in the United States. The passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1990 was a ...

Nice! Congrats and I’m looking forward to learning more.

This Spurs team is fun. So young, and absolutely no fear playing the defending champs.

Merry Christmas!
This is NGC 2264, also called the "Christmas Tree Cluster." It's a cluster of young stars about 2,500 light years away.

They were 'born' during the Pliocene Epoch (2-5 MYA), about the same time as early hominids like Ardipithecus or Homo habilis, so they're barely older than humanity.

Here’s the U.S. government being officially religious in a country with no official religion.

Just learned what that was last friday.
Fun fact from our textbook (to illustrate how crime is socially constructed) to bug the Christian nationalists with: it was a crime to celebrate Christmas from 1659 to 1681 in Massachusetts Bay Colony.
Our book Taking America Back for God hit a big milestone today. Proud of this work and thrilled that it’s been a resource for scholars. @andrew-whitehead.bsky.social
Compromise isn’t a weakness. It’s a gift. 🎁

And most Americans prefer it.

📊 80% say political leaders should compromise to get things done, even when it means accepting parts they don’t like.

😂😂😂😂

should have known! multilevel marketing.

Lonaberger baskets anyone?!? c’mon.
I feel like the only people who grew up in the Midwest in the 80s and early 90s can really appreciate how elite the set design is in Home Alone.

Just incredible.

The wooden goose on top of the corner cabinet.

The basement nicknacks, the extra room on the third floor.

This is an almost shockingly wise essay. I'm glad I've finally read it.
There Is No Mary Problem in ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’
George’s vision of his wife without him is essential to the film, but critics continue to miss its true—and profound—meaning.

Wait for it…
Check out the Kavanaugh FN 4; I think it's pretty clear that the Kavanaugh Stop thing has gotten to him:

😂
Anyone can read the redactions of the Epstein Files by just copying and pasting them into a word doc. The people at Trump's Justice Department are so stupid they used Adobe Acrobat to black out the documents.

Sigh. 😔

Thanks for starting the convo. But don‘t apologize! No way you could remember all the people who’ve been doing this work for so long CAUSE THERE ARE SO MANY.

Maybe it’s the job of someone writing an op-ed in the NYT, for instance. Just spitballing here though.

Here’s what over a decade of social science reveals about Christian nation language. Check out thread for resources.

Research shows “Christian nation” language signals:

1. 👑 Desire for traditional social hierarchies
2. 🚧 Commitment to strong ethno-racial boundaries
3. 💰 Idealizing free-market capitalism
4. 🔒 Preference for authoritarian social control
5. 🌀 Embrace of populism, victimhood & conspiracies
JD Vance gets the biggest applause of his speech so far when he says "by the grace of God we always will be a Christian nation"

Some more resources for folks available in this thread.

Built on over a decade of research across the social sciences. But maybe not available in North Carolina??? Who knows.

So frustrating. more like “I paid little attention to these journalists and scholars until recently.”

Ok, I don't usually do this, but the Molly Worthen piece on Christian Nationalism in the NYT? Apologetics.
I'm on Xmas break and I don't feel like wasting my time breaking this down but let me just say this: WHO IS WE? Because some of us get Christian Nationalism, the NAR, and Dominionism.
