Australians barely ever talk about the 1975 Constitutional Crisis, what gives???

In *living fucking memory*, the British Crown (and likely the CIA too, see above) interfered with electoral sovereignty, yet Australia still wants to build USA military bases and serve the Crown.

Such loser shit.

It’s not just about what you remove (cars, noise, dirty air). It’s about what you add (people walking, a lot of bike parking, trees, outdoor dining, and room for kids to play safely). Amsterdam: 1986 and today.

Streets for people.

People in the UK aren't getting transphobia from weird niche online communities.

They're getting it from the prime minister, the BBC, politicians and the newspapers in every newsagents in the country.
when this piece of shit is asked what good phone pouches are supposed to do, shs responds glibly about online radicalisation. where else would children learn to be transphobic in the tolerant UK, after all? ridiculous
On Brianna's 19th birthday, this morning I joined @cheshirepcc.bsky.social and the Brianna Ghey Legacy Project Phone Free Education campaign at the launch at Jodrell Bank of a new £150k initiative to make Cheshire the first county in the UK where ALL state high schools have lockable phone pouches.

Whitlam Dismissal take

The greatest achievement of the Dismissal has been the crushing of the ALP’s ambition to actually bring a better world into being.

Hawke sealed the deal by making the mark of success decent management of a capitalist economy.

Now it’s just ambition to be in government.

Gigantic SUVs are a public health threat. Why don’t we treat them like one?

The anti-smoking playbook is worth studying and learning from, and is completely applicable to oversized cars.

GenAI/LLMs have been built on the conscious and willful theft of labour literally anyone who has ever done anything online or that has ended online.

As a global society it would be absolutely remiss of us to not punish this.

I will forever prefer a searchable ASCII document on GameFAQs to literally any fucking video or other guide content.
Hey, happy 30th birthday GameFAQs! Launched on November 5th, 1995!

The earliest scrape I can find on Wayback is December 1996, but I doubt the site changed much. But yes, here it is in its earliest days as the Video Game FAQ Archive!

Everyone should watch Alien Earth - not just because it's the best the Alien has been in some time.

Because the sound mix on that show is beautiful. Every creak, drip, and hiss come through as you'd expect. But the dialogue is perfectly mixed - from a whisper to a shout, you can understand it all.

the nyt posts this stuff like avoiding AI for 48 hours is hard and meanwhile i have literally never once intentionally used an AI program for anything ever
