It would have been so funny if this had happened with One Direction
2 mins into Peter Jackson‘s Beatles doc and I‘m once again thinking about how Beatlemania was very much a girl centric fandom and then within years they became the sort of band men would mansplain to you at 2 AM in kitchens at parties

The role is the church is to minister to sinners.

No one is irredeemable.

It’s a hard message if you are serious.

Racism is a sin. Stirring up hatred against migrants is a sin. Fascism is a sin.

You cannot find your way to faith by decrying the core tenets of that faith.

When I've appeared on people's podcasts it's only ever been men who've gone "oh btw we're gonna be recording video, is that ok?" literally right before we start. Please don't do this!
will also add - yes, this is my personal crusade - that turning podcasts into videos implicitly asks women to once again make more effort than men, as the bar for "camera-ready" for one gender is obviously higher than for the other
‘Painful to hear!’ How podcasts’ rush to video is turning them into dreadful listens

The people who profited most from the cancel culture/free speech panic were less interested in actual freedom of speech than establishing their own control over public discourse. You don't even have to take my word for it. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

I love to be told that feminism has failed women by women whose careers and ability to flourish in public life, let alone have a credit card, only exist because of feminism

I don't think AI is sentient but I'm still quite sentimentally attached to the idea that Grok hates Musk and is constantly fighting against the sycophancy built into its programming

A police chief telling a right wing think tank that’s long been scapegoating immigrants that he has heard “reports”. From whom? Of what exactly? No idea, but now far right activists will disseminate the “fact” that Muslims in Manchester celebrated a massacre of Jews. Elon will be posting soon.

My son has learned to wave and cheerily go "bye bye mama!!!" when he and his dad leave the house to go to nursery. Which is super cute but does throw into quite sharp relief that whenever it's me and him leaving his dad behind he acts like he's being shipped off to war

I finally finished the last episode today (love a super long episode) and feel the need to stress again how much the subs fee for Cursed Media was worth it for this series. Annie and Megan knocked it out the park, thank you both.

There should be a term like IPhone face for when the actor's doing a perfectly passable American accent but something in you just *knows* that they're British. A face that's been to Tesco. A face that's eaten a Greggs

New Knives Out was good but there is something funny about how Hollywood always wants to depict Catholicism for the aesthetics and drama but somehow ends up doing American evangelicalism with Goth characteristics. Like *how* exactly is a catholic priest inheriting a church from his grandad

If you're having trouble playing QAA episodes on our free feed, you're not the only one. I'm looking into it now and will hopefully will fix it ASAP.
I apologize for that. Everything looks like it should be fine on my end, but the tracks aren't playing on podcatchers for some reason. I sent a ticket to our audio distribution service Soundcloud and hopefully they can resolve it soon. Thanks for listening and your patience while I try to fix this.

I would never have heard of "free birth" if I hadn't listened to Annie Kelly's podcast, Truly Tradly Deeply.
She died of a postpartum hemorrhage. It's a common complication that affects about 1/100 births. I had one when giving birth to my youngest child, but because I gave birth with qualified medical personnel who had quick access to life-saving medication, I survived.

Never a great idea to tell people what rattles you online but I hate how every time I post about the many horrors related to freebirthing I get some bright spark saying something about "Darwin awards". Wow you really owned all those dead newborns! Genuinely disgusts me, we are not on the same team
