He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

Rick Scott told me his plan would be to take all of the remaining ACA subsidies and redistribute them to HSA accounts and people can then buy whatever insurance a state certifies. Basically a repeal/replace.
He denied when I asked wouldn’t that create two-tiered system where sick pay much more…

This is a big deal: Bovino…”was expected to depart Chicago for another assignment within days, and most of the Border Patrol agents under this command would soon be redeployed elsewhere”

Good riddance. Get the hell out of our city.
Federal immigration agents part of the Trump administration’s “Operation Midway Blitz” may soon leave Chicago, according to multiple sources who said the controversial mission was rapidly winding down after a contentious two months of enforcement raids that have set the city and suburbs on edge.
Federal Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino and agents said to be leaving Chicago, sources say
Cmdr. Gregory Bovino was expected to depart Chicago within days, while most Border Patrol agents under this command would soon be redeployed elsewhere, three sources told the Tribune Monday.

And we will win

Well, these images have done the viral circuit, and are now at the spot where people are accusing them of being AI.

Bummer to those folks: they are not AI. These are real photographs, made with my mirrorless cameras.

Media literacy sure is lost on so many people, it's quite sad.

Prices are up during this administration:
💰Inflation has accelerated to 3%
🥦Grocery prices have increased, not decreased
🍔It isn’t just beef. Dozens of grocery products have gotten more expensive
⛽Gas prices aren’t the lowest in two decades and aren’t close to $2 per gallon

This is hilarious
POLITICO: “.. The White House was blindsided by the idea, according to two people familiar with the situation .. and is now dealing with a furious backlash from conservative allies, business leaders and lawmakers.” 🤡

Does Cheryl Hines share husband RFK Jr.’s vaccine views? Now we know the answer.

At @lawfaremedia.org, we spent a month tracking down public info on domestic deployments of National Guard, Reserve, and Active-Duty troops.

What we found—and what we didn't—revealed a disturbing lack of transparency on how and why military forces are being used on U.S. soil.

btw, to point out something that might not be obvious, but they do not have "November and December" to work on this. November is nearly half over and the remaining days the House is slated to be in session in Nov will be for the CR. December has a grand total of 12 days where the House is in session

Wow: Per Hamdi's legal team, his only charge was a visa overstay — after Trump revoked his visa.

Despite DHS tweeting that Hamdi supported terrorism, they never charged him with any criminality.

In other words: Trump revoked a journalist's visa, so agents could arrest him for overstaying his visa.
NEW: British journalist Sami Hamdi is being released from US detention.

Trump administration agents detained him two weeks ago at the San Francisco airport — hours after he addressed an event, where he urged US leaders to take an “America First” approach rather than “Israel First.”

I'm a huge fan of Chicago media critic @markjacob.bsky.social. Every week he has a brutally smart take on politics & the news media. This week may be my favorite yet with this graphic ⤵️ & this line:

"If only the media acted more like frogs"
That old metaphor about the frog and the boiling water isn’t true: If you put a frog in a pot of water and slowly raise the heat, the frog will jump out before it gets boiled to death.
The question now is whether American journalists are smarter than frogs.

DHS claims this never happened. Watch the video for yourself and see who is telling the truth. (hint: it's not the trump administration)
Arianna Sofia Veraza and her parents were driving to Sam's Club for milk, eggs and diapers yesterday when they heard helicopters and horns blaring yesterday. They had turned around to leave when a federal agent pepper-sprayed them through a car window.

Do not fall for the settled law bs again, folks. Trump & the republicans will never stop coming for marriage equality. Never.
It's good news that the court is not going to be reconsidering Obergefell this term...but the emphasis in that sentence should fall on THIS TERM. There is absolutely no reason to believe that this court won't change its mind in the future, just as they did with Roe.
