There were five shootings that left a total of six people wounded and no homicides last night, per CPD.
CPD officers had their regular days off canceled and are doing 12-hour shifts for New Year's Eve, per citywide dept. message from Chief of Patrol Jon Hein.

Order is effective 6 a.m.-6 a.m. Follows a pre-Thanksgiving weekend that saw nine teenagers shot in the Loop after the city tree lighting.

Chicago violence continued to plummet in 2025 despite high-profile crimes
Despite some headline-grabbing mayhem, Chicago’s gun violence fell to levels not seen in a decade in 2025, with a homicide total roughly half what it was just four years ago.

The federal government indicted the Broadview 6 in a hugely significant case. Five work in politics. One is a garden store worker who sings and was randomly swept up. @tesskenny.bsky.social explains what happened and why it matters in this must-read story

How a garden store worker became part of the ‘Broadview Six’
Charged alongside four Democratic politicians and one political staffer, Joselyn Walsh is arguably the least known of the group, known as the ‘Broadview Six.’

Border Patrol Cmdr. Gregory Bovino back in Chicago as agents make show of force across city and suburbs

Just watched the entire convoy drive circles around a Menards at 26th and Cicero (or so) for several minutes without any agents getting out. They just detained someone out of a grey Cadillac a little further north on Cicero.
Border Patrol, including Cmdr Bovino, is back in Little Village. They've detained at least one person so far. Officers have pepper ball guns and tear gas canisters on them but have not deployed them so far. One officer was holding a can out the window as he drove away.
