Statement on US aggression in Venezuela
January 3, 2026 at 11:36 PM
Murder, kidnapping, theft, greed and arrogance - Trump’s war on Venezuela is all of this. The US is a brutal and dangerous ‘ally’ that Australia, and the rest of the world, needs to protect itself from

Very sad that Bangladesh’s first female Prime Minister Khaleda Zia has died just weeks before the February 12 election. The former government had refused to allow her to travel for medical treatment in a highly political attack on her politics. www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/12...

Incredibly sad to see we have lost Professor Emma Johnston. She loved, and fought for, the marine environment, women in STEM, climate action and social purpose at universities. I knew her from her work at Sydney University where all of this was on display. Too soon. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-12...

Every wondered how many guns are in your suburb? We have built a tool that shows registered firearms by postcode across NSW.

Having access to data can help us all understand how our gun laws are actually working (or failing to work!)

Thinking of the Jewish community in Sydney tonight who faced appalling violence on what should have been a day for family, community and togetherness.

We must all pull together with those touched by today’s events and not let the hatred of these men divide us.

Horrific violence in Bondi this evening, still a developing situation with a number of civilians shot and killed and ongoing warnings.

Please stay away from Bondi and listen to and follow police directions.

When your conflicts become the story instead of the anti-corruption work you’re supposed to be leading, you know there’s a problem.

That Commissioner Brereton claims he’s seeking a public hearing to “put questions to rest” only erodes trust further.

He has to go.

I'm a US citizen preparing to move to Australia (hopefully forever:). Hard to understand why the Australian government would think this was a good time to be making deals with the US, which has been making it clear how little it values its allies (and is on a murder campaign in the Caribbean).

Even more US military assets coming to Australia. More US bases. More US weapons. Celebrating a dominant foreign government sending its military into our harbours and cities and taking multiple footholds here … it’s cringeworthy, tragic and wrong.
