This analysis from Nick Feik is profound especially as there is talk of the PM caving to a shameless campaign

Colour me surprised…

“The timing, conduct and terms of reference of any Royal Commission should be structured so as not to interfere with ongoing criminal proceedings” say the law council.

So it would look at everything but the actual attack and motives behind it?

Out of the 23 comments I read, in order, 2 wanted a Royal Commission. And no, I'm not being selective.

The Australian people doesn't seem to be buying this, despite having it shoved down their throat by the majority of the media for a fortnight now.

The majority of comments on this "Grant Hackett thinks..." suggest this media campaign is vastly out of touch.

Several say a RC is silly (faster/more obvious ways to act, past RCs had little effect). Many query why we'd listen to sports stars. Some point to foreign interference.

With all that's going on in the world, the Australian media continue their tantrum demanding a royal commission. It's now reached the point of validating their own pride. How dare the govt not listen to them? Don't they know who they are? Some of these people have won awards!

I’m still amazed that the sub judice aspect has been ignored in the rolling media campaign for a Bondi royal commission.
In case you’ve not read about it (and why would you) I’ve written about it here:

‘The Bondi massacre was unprecedented, unforgivable, unjustified and horrific. The aftermath presented an opportunity for serious reflection….Instead we have seen a descent into partisan politicking the likes of which we’ve never seen before in Australia.’

What happened to Australia's media after the Bondi attack? It judged & blindly swung into campaign mode.

Royal commissions air everything publicly. One on Bondi would influence matters before the court because they are subject to sub judice laws. #auspol nickfeik.substack.com/p/weaponisin...

The News Corp campaign for a royal commission is like pushing on a string - the other media just following their lead and Labor too cowed to push back. No rationale, no questions, no interrogation of the problems. The whole thing is genuinely stupid.

Grant Hackett calling for a royal commission?! Because values?!
Accused of domestic violence, smashed his house up, lost in the casino out of control drunk, groped a fellow passenger’s nipple on a plane, too dangerous for his own family …that Grant Hackett?
