Elected Democrats and I seem to have incompatible definitions of "fighting."
3. We need to move back as soon as we can to fighting Trump, united and forceful, as the voters who gave us that big win Tuesday expect. Getting back to that fight is how we keep building momentum.

I'm curious what @gelliottmorris.com thinks about how public sentiment around our recent post-pandemic inflation compares to public sentiment around past bouts of inflation. I looked at this a while back and thought poor sentiment lingered longer post-pandemic, but I'm well out of my comfort zone.
what I'm saying here will is that the argument that inflation and consumer sentiment were unrelated hinges on the definition of inflation as a one-year change in prices, which is probably disconnected from how people experienced the economy IRL -- im actually arguing *against* p-hacking

Keep fighting? With what? You just threw your remaining leverage away for nothing.
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis

For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

We will keep fighting

Does anyone have an *informed* sense of how likely it is these votes were brokered with the approval of other Senate Dems who voted “no,” presumably to protect their reelection chances?
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

Senate Democrats think this is the appropriate response because they begin every conflict with the assumption they will lose, and then ask “How can we end this as quickly as possible while creating the appearance of having tried to win so the base isn’t mad?”
I truly don’t know how you look at the past week and THEN decide THIS is an appropriate — let alone the right — response.
Dems backed Trump into a corner where he’s advocating for starving Americans and hemorrhaging support. If they vote to let him off the hook in exchange for nothing it’s a cataclysmic failure. I know people are in pain but insulating Republicans from political consequences is not the answer.

Oh sure you think Chuck Schumer is “caving” and “wants to ruin all the momentum” and “is horrible at politics” but what if I was to tell you that this old crazy man ran the idea by an imaginary married Irish American couple that exists only in his mind and they think it’s great politics

The Mamdani political sign generator is kinda fun https://homes.luddy.indiana.edu/ccshan/for/for.html

I am possibly the least qualified person to weigh in on this question, but this approach seems like the only defensible one?
Mamdani embodies a pro-Palestinian politics that truly distinguishes between the state of Israel and the Jewish people, and truly takes antisemitism seriously as its own problem. That makes him a threat to those who want to absolutely conflate antisemitism and anti-Zionism, whether the ADL or WoL.
The pro-Palestine group Within Our Lifetime has already decided that Zohran Mamdani has sold out the pro-Palestine cause... by condemning swastikas drawn on a Jewish day school in Brooklyn. forward.com/culture/7822...

LET ME BE PERFECTLY CLEAR: DOJ DID ALL OF THIS TO TRY AND STOP PAYMENTS TO PEOPLE UNDER AN ANTI-HUNGER PROGRAM.
Oh, this is wild.

DOJ went to SCOTUS *before* we got the First Circuit's administrative stay denial. (We know this because DOJ just filed a letter at SCOTUS about the admin stay denial.)

So, DOJ went to SCOTUS b/c the First Circuit did not meet its less-than-seven-hour "deadline" for a ruling.
