Starting today: the 23rd novelette, " – the thin ice – ", which begins the second season of the epic:
City of Roses | No. 23: the thin ice
In which an answer is given, a hat is stolen, an old friend returns, a dinner is held, and a situation's resolved to no one's benefit.

It’s so frustrating that so much art is better than it’s ever been. Tools & knowledge has been democratized in a way that removes many of the biggest roadblocks to making cool shit. & yet, as a society we seem hell bent on throwing it all away with a.i. and the never ending deference to i.p. churn.

I got this useful bon mot from a middle school teacher recently.

In response to, “I DONT UNDERSTAND,” he calmly said, “okay what steps have you taken to understand?”

And that’s when I realized that a lot of folks have no steps.

My latest at @comicsjournal.bsky.social: I talked to @oglaf.bsky.social! Not the character, but rather, the people who create it.

They don't do many interviews, so this was a real treat. They're funny people! Turns out they're not super private, just...really bad at PR?

Talking Oglaf with Trudy Cooper and Doug Bayne: 'We'd stay up all night drawing stuff to make each other laugh' - The Comics Journal
Other than some time off every year for Christmas, Trudy Cooper and Doug Bayne have delivered a new Oglaf comic, skewering fantasy tropes with absolutely not safe for work humor, every week since 2008...

We cannot let “haunted ICE agent regretfully explores his feelings/past/guilt” become a genre the way we did with every bad actor since the Confederates.
This is why they were in downtown Chicago today.

"one agent shouted, “Everyone say, ‘Little Village!’”"

Nuremberg Trials are the moderate stance

Amazing moment in time right now where people who yelled at us for sticking to genocide as a red line are now also disgusted with Democrats and threatening not to vote for them. So your health insurance becoming more expensive was your red line?

Democrats when they have a supermajority: I mean, we don't really NEED to ban orphan crushing. Everyone understands it's bad.
Republicans: congrats, we did it. Took 2,000 tries over 10 years but orphan crushing is now legal.

Democrats: we just don't have the votes to ban orphan crushing and anyway the parliamentarian wouldn't allow it even if we did. Next year we'll do it IF we gain a supermajority and the stars align

They should not have fucked over all of our federal employees and hurt so many people for literally nothing.
Shutting down the government is a big deal. People have been hurt in big ways as a result of the decision. To have that suffering be for nothing—to re-open the government without actually having protected people’s health insurance and economic well-being—is unconscionable.
