"A 2023 study found that in the early years of the fracking boom, Tarrant County — the home of Fort Worth — had 60% more children born with serious birth defects than would have been expected for its population."

This story is bonkers and deserves a read. Especially if you're in/around Dallas.
EXCLUSIVE: A whistleblower tells @thebarbedwire.com he spent years burying radioactive fracking waste, which melted the bones in his neck and jaw. Then a residential community — and an elementary school — was built on top. 🧵

“Immigrant rights organizations pushed for this legislation urgently last fall because Mikie Sherrill, a Democrat who won the governor’s race to replace Murphy in November, has not committed to keeping the directive in place going forward.”
“I think [Governor] Murphy had the power to protect immigrants on his last day, and he chose not to use it, and it’s a failure of leadership when we need it the most,” says a New Jersey immigrant rights advocate.

I don’t know why people always come to this conclusion as if we are living in a country where powerful people ever face consequences. They don’t have to act like there won’t be a power transfer, the power transfer won’t impact them either way!
You can joke about Pam Bondi’s ridiculous unprofessionalism all you want, but I’m deeply shocked by it: She acts as if she fears absolutely no consequences, convinced that there will be no more political power transfers. — This should shake everyone to their core.

i hope one of the downstream effects of what's happening now is more scrutiny on vague anti-trafficking campaigns that manifest mostly in public relations announcements where a big banks or something touts donating millions of dollars to police departments that no one ever hears about again
all I’ll add is Bondi, as Florida AG, used “fighting sex trafficking” to elevate herself—empowering cops at the expense of survivors. long before Trump she was like this
