Hi, I'm Dee! I occasionally remember that I have a YT channel I always mean to be funny on. Star Wars nerd since birth, former Marine, data nerd, romcom fan, D&D DM, writer with too many WIPs (two novels and a boatload of fanfic)

There are some shows I have given up on because of the constant constant re-stating of exposition. Exposition is a thing that is definitely needed in normal amounts. The amounts being demanded right now by executives at some streamers is excessive & annoying & has killed my interest in some shows
I am watching a series in which the protagonist addresses his daughter as "babygirl" and his son as "little man" and his partner as "partner." The insistence that TV needs to be for people who can't bother to look at the screen is killing writing, show by show, episode by episode, line by line.

People really need to understand that the primary process is where you cement power. When standard Republicans started to get primaried for Tea Party fuckos, things went downhill fast.
We have the chance this year to not only take back the House (or if we're dreaming, even the Senate), but to primary the hell of a lot of D losers and shift the party significantly to the left. We have the chance to lean on ALL of our reps to actually do something.

Come on, good fucking gravy, this is not “pro-ICE,” and it does not preclude further, more comprehensive action when Dems have the power to do so. Right now they don’t, and they’re holding the line on trying to get what they can *now*.

WOODBURN— Stopping overly aggressive immigration enforcement will take a “groundswell” of backlash from elected leaders and ordinary Americans, U.S. Rep. Andrea Salinas said Friday.

US Troops killed all the guards at Dachau for this kind of shit.
On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.

incredible how white men are given the benefit of the doubt when anything coming from marginalized groups are treated with utmost suspicion and distorted beyond recognition

I'm not a climate doomer, because that's what the powerful want. They want people to give up and say "it's too late."

Even if it is too late, I'd still rather the world decarbonize if only to fuck up the fossil fuel companies.

If you refuse to believe in a better future, at least believe in spite.
The only biosphere in the known universe capable of supporting human life is being turned into a hell planet because most of Earth's governments refuse to stop trying to satisfy the insatiable greed of a plutocracy composed of people who already have more money than they could spend in 20 lifetimes.
Point of no return: a hellish ‘hothouse Earth’ getting closer, scientists say

there is really going to have to be a reckoning and solution for these people that cannot exist in an ordered, civil society.
Fuentes, yesterday: “Our #1 political enemy is women because women constrain everything, every conversation, every man, everything. They have to be imprisoned. They are the ones that are hurting the fertility rate. They're the ones making us sympathetic to poor people, which are also brown people.”
