I don’t want to start a whole big thing here, but the wording here is unintentionally revealing: the presumption that Stancil is somebody in need of redemption and has not satisfied that need through his actions is some seriously online brained nonsense.

You call your output queer just because you wrote a trans bildungsroman in verse? You still wrote it in English, a straight language for straights! Write it in Linear A, fuckass!

"Some gay people aren't queer" has done irreparable damage to a lot of people's brains
I mean, let's be clear. Heated Rivalry was never queer. Nothing that's easily accessible for the reader or viewer is queer. The only really queer media is zines printed with the contributors' blood and then immediately incinerated. Everything else is straighty straight straight.

"When Jesus saw the crowds, he was moved with compassion for them"
My relatively brief experience with evangelicalism, though never this toxic, often included the underlying sense that you have to ignore your emotions telling you something is wrong and just follow the dogma that's being given to you no matter what
Conservative figures such as Riley Gaines and Allie Beth Stuckey are urging their followers to ward off empathy for victims of ICE’s crackdown

So the homicide was premeditated. Planned in advance. Agents knew they wanted to kill him, so they prepared for the opportunity and took it.

Thanks for helping NYT.
More than a week before federal agents killed Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, different agents pushed him to the ground after he spit at them and broke a taillight on their SUV, according to newly unearthed videos. Watch here.

to nobody in particular but looking at a LOT of people

when your doomer prophecy bullshit making everyone around you panic inevitably does not come to pass i hope you feel so embarrassingly stupid that you are afraid to ever express another opinion

I license my footage, in which I don't speak at all, to places like CNN, CBS, and KARE 11. I'm working with Mother Jones. I am primarily a writer, who has broken real, investigative stories. I'm not an activist or a fucking content creator, nor am I working in the style of one, thanks. Fuck off.

I'd actually go further and say that the "STEM"/"humanities" split is a meaningless and fake one. Mathematics and programming have as mucv in common with music and writing as with biochemistry or paleontology.
I should also note that I am someone who has humanities degrees and who *also* has ended up really enjoying doing a lot of STEM-Type-Work professionally: I’m a big fan of both.

And I refuse to play along with the idea that one is superior to the other.
I agree that it’s high fucking time that we stopped acting like we need to grovel and constantly justify the existence of some of our most incredibly elemental and ancient human pursuits.

I am so tired of people posting and reposting things that very obviously need adult content filters in them.

No, I don’t care that I can’t see your borbo’s dick. Your blorbo is engaged in obvious sexual dynamics. I promise I will click through to see your blorbo going full kinkster when I’m home.

AND YOU, TO WHOM ADVERSITY HAS DEALT THE FINAL BLOW

WITH SMILING BASTARDS LYING TO YOU EVERYWHERE YOU GO

TURN TO, AND PUT ALL YOUR STRENGTH OF ARM AND HEART AND BRAIN

AND, LIKE THE MARY ELLEN CARTER, RISE AGAIN

FUCK ICE
And you, to whom adversity has dealt the final blow
With smiling bastards lying to you everywhere you go
Turn to, and put out all your strength of arm and heart and brain
And like the Mary Ellen Carter, rise again.

Dammit, @maddavenport.bsky.social why are you making me cry on a Sunday night

They’re like “MLK Jr was shot! Nonviolence didn’t save him!” You got it buddy, MLK Jr never thought he might be murdered by his political opponents.

We had close to 250 people at our interfaith vigil which is about 100 more than we can comfortably fit. Folks were packed into pews, standing in the narthex, listening on in the parish hall, and sitting on folded chairs in the aisles. It was beautiful, but I’m still so upset we had need to gather. 🕯️
