Seeing some journalists raise questions about the story I reposted earlier, so wanted to share since accurate info even in the midst of intentional chaos & evil of this admin is important.
There’s a religion-related story getting some traction on here tonight from an outlet I’ve never come across, with details that raise lots of questions — so I’d want lots more confirmation.

Not gonna point to it directly bc of that, but I’d encourage folks to await more reporting on the matter.

Profoundly evil.
"Agencies within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, including ICE, ERO, and CBP intend to implement a comprehensive plan to target Spanish-speaking churches across the country during the upcoming holiday season between Thanksgiving, Nov. 27, and Christmas, Dec. 25."

So appreciative of readers like @megmcdermott92.bsky.social. I love seeing these kinds of connections and being part of a conversation.
Read this @abbiekiefer.bsky.social poem last night & it felt very relevant to today's Gospel texts (for churches that follow the lectionary - it was Luke 21:5-19)

"To be loved by Susan would be to be impaled by a bird's sharp beak, to be nailed to a barnyard door. Yet there are moments when I could wish to be speared by a beak, to be nailed to a barnyard door, positively, once and for all." - The Waves by Virginia Woolf

Living in a city again is bringing me back to my early-mid twenties vibes lol (it does not help that the clubs play 80 percent of the same music as a decade ago, just with Chappell Roan thrown in 😂)

Just registered for my spring semester (for MFA year 1)! I may end up backing out of a class if it's too much, but tentatively I'll be doing both poetry and creative nonfiction workshops and a literary criticism class (in addition to work as a TA and art editor at the lit journal). I'm hyped!!!!!

Starting to read a Virginia Woolf novel you haven't read before: what on earth is happening, what is she thinking, I'm so disoriented

10 to 20 pages in: she's a genius!!!!!

(Hi I'm reading The Waves for the first time)

I love the way this poem by @megmcdermott92.bsky.social warms up a sort-of ekphrasis.

"It also asked Zane what his 'haunting habit' would be as a ghost. And what song he would like to 'go out to.'" This is so egregious.

Early Florentine self-portrait by Artemisia Gentileschi on view at Christie's in New York, and up for auction in in February. I just saw it in August and it's very close to her Inclination in the Casa Buonarroti (c. 1615) and other early self-portraits in Florence (thanks, @pjeromack.bsky.social!)

Also, there are an additional six clergy that have sued the Trump admin this year as individuals, as well as four individual religious practitioners.

Religion note: The first plaintiff in this case pushing the Trump admin to fully fund SNAP benefits is the Rhode Island State Council of Churches.

By my count, that makes 62 religious organizations (including denominations!) that have been part of lawsuits against the Trump admin this year.
